Main Street Paving Gets High Priority Definite Expected
State highway department officials met with city and chamber leaders to discuss top priority for paving Main Street and Route 94 improvements. Division engineer Tomiste said funds are short but an increased repair allotment may address critical road needs. Ritter and others attended. a definite start date would be given in 10 days to two weeks.

Legion To Sponsor Local Memorial Day Celebrations
Memorial Day events in Rittman will be hosted by the American Legion Howard A. Bair Post on Monday May 30 at the cemetery. A parade forms at Gordon's garage Erie street and proceeds to the Square led by the Rittman high school band. Father John E. Duffey will give the main address with others including Fr. John T. Farrell and Reverend Freymeyer participating.

Rittman high school earned three superior ratings and three excellent ratings at the Solo and Ensemble contest held Saturday May 7. A clarinet quartet of Shiney Gwaltney Janet Gwaltney Joanne Blatter and Selena Snoerk and a cornet duet of Alberta Lance and Jack Williams both received superior ratings. Also rated excellent were a cornet solo by Joyce Honsar a trombone solo by Robert Winkler and a clarinet quartet number nine by Norma Campbell Vera Griner Gletig Tiegdon and Key Donna Peters.
