Rittman undertakes curb and sign repainting under Marshal John Berder with Eugene Harter assisted by Harry Gunner Wayne Houseworth and Sweeny Kurtz. Curbs regain bright red color this week. Intersection at Mainst and Ohio Av to get traffic light changes when service posts arrive, guiding inside left turn.
Raymond Hall and his family moved into the Charles Dennis estate on Main Street Tuesday. Hall is employed by Fraser Young trucking company and they previously lived on West First Street. The residence was formerly occupied by Dr. Bradshaw the dentist.
Friday and Saturday feature Tim McCoy in Tag One Way Trail with Doris Hill showcasing riding skill. Sunday and Monday present After Tomorrow a romance of two youths aided by unmotherly mothers and a struggling wage earner. Also A Woman Commands a Polar drama set in thirty years ago with Pola Negri, plus Paradise radio hit and Caught Plastered a midweek comedy.
The mutilated body of Mrs Herbert Meeker is found near Smithville. Husband Herbert Meeker confesses after police grilling and accuses accomplice Harold Young who then dies by suicide as officers close in. Neighbor John Kelster is arrested over a borrowed Model T related to the crime. Families connected to the Meekers recount past visits and a planned motor trip.
Public confidence in banks has risen after a sharp drop in Postal Savings deposits. Monthly deposits fell over 80 percent since January, with figures suggesting a return to normal levels as timid savers return. Officials credit bank-favorable legislation and Reconstruction Finance Corporation loans for stabilizing the system and boosting trust.
Mr and Mrs R W Frédick Donna Dale and David were Sunday guests at Mr and Mrs D W Batinson in Marshallville.
A Rittman Board of Trade meeting is set for next Tuesday evening in the Legion Rooms. President Ralph Overholt reports current membership drive progress with two competing teams and expects at least 160 members before the campaign ends. The board formed April 26 with 20 attendees and recently split into divisions working the drive.
Donna Dale Fredrick of Rittman will represent Miss Milton in the Wooster and Wayne County historical pageant set for Saturday May 14 at 2 p.m. at the county fair grounds in Wooster with a repeat on Monday May 16 at 4 p.m. The event, honoring the 125th anniversary of Wooster, hosts sixteen township escorts and Mrs Herbert Hoover as guest of honor.
Tuesday evening the Rittman schools held their annual exhibition displaying work from first grade to senior class. Notable features included a freehand drawing by a first grader, neat handwriting across grades, perfect English and arithmetic papers, blue ribbons for spelling, and a strategically arranged map of Ohio and world geography projects. A large map of Europe, Africa and Asia with origin cards and dates drew attention, along with varied art pieces and a history shelf. The village plat of Rittman is highlighted as the only complete map of the village.
E. E. McConnell expresses gratitude to friends and home community for the strong support received in the recent primary elections. The note attributes the vote to local ties and shared concerns within the community.

Seventeen seniors will march to Bright Star at the Baccalaureate service Sunday evening at eight in the high school auditorium. Rev. Moorett Nelswanger will deliver the sermon, with Rev. EK Hamilton reading scripture and mixed chorus singing. Benediction by Rev. fh Hendrickson. Eighth grade commencement Thursday May 19 at 8 pm. Frank P Whitney, principal, will speak at high school commencement Friday May 20.
Rozell and Mrs. McCoy have purchased the former Ike Overholt property at Cloverland North Fourth Street and expect possession on June 1. McCoy has long worked as a janitor at Rittman schools. Overholt served on the street commission in Rittman and moved to a farm near Wadsworth.
A baby girl arrived to Mr and Mrs Herbert Keen in Albion Ohio. Mrs Keen was formerly Mise Fackter a teacher in the primary building years ago. Mrs R D Snyder was brought to her home from Wooster hospital Sunday and is reported very much improved.
Voter results show Democrats ahead in several Wayne County contests with 173 votes for Ernest McConnell in county commissioner race, while Eugene Schaffter leads Republican tickets. Governor and other state posts split with Democrats and Republicans each carrying key offices, including White over Gearga and Brown slight edge over Tagalts in Ohio governor race.
Public notice states dogs must be kept from running at large and require a license. It emphasizes enforcement to protect residents with gardens, signed by Marshal John Bender.
