The Rittman City Council will hold a special session Monday April 5 at 7 30 PM in council chambers. The agenda includes discussion of proposed Ohio Edison rate increases and subdivision regulations.
Wayne County Joint Vocational School invites all interested adults to an inquiry about the Full-Time Data Processing Program starting this summer. The meeting is Tuesday April 13 at 7 30 p.m in Room P 2 with program supervisors present to answer questions. Applicants must be 16 or older not in another full time program. Tuition covers part of the cost with the rest funded by the Division of Vocational Education.
Ohio Edison and its Pennsylvania Power subsidiary reported 1970 earnings declined 3.8 percent due to higher operating expenses and interest on long-term debt amid a national slowdown. Kilowatt hour sales rose 2.0 percent while operating revenues grew 5.6 percent. residential use increased to 6,086 kWh per customer.
Ronald A Miller, retail advertising manager at Akron Beacon Journal, will speak at the Chamber of Commerce Luncheon at Williams Restaurant. He discusses Effective Retail Advertising Techniques and has a background with Cincinnati Enquirer and Cincinnati roots.
Grace College junior David McComas is selected for a summer mission trip to France under Time Training in Missionary Endeavor. He will work at Chateau de St Albain near Macon under Rev Tom Julian, with June 24 to August 26 travel dates, testing his French studies while assisting maintenance and youth activities.
Floyd E. Gingery, 77, of 209 N. Pardee, died March 29 at Wadsworth Rittman Hospital after a short illness. A World War I Army veteran, he lived in Wadsworth 18 years, previously farming in Wayne County and Sterling. Survived by wife Alta M. and many relatives, he belonged to multiple veterans and fraternal groups.
Parents may register children entering Kindergarten or First Grade at North Street or West Hill schools in Rittman on March 31 and April 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment is needed. Children must meet age rules and bring birth certificates and health exam cards. call numbers 925-1686 or 925-1676 for later appointments.
The Rittman Savings Bank reduced real estate loan rates by one half to one percent while keeping passbook savings at 4 percent. Allan Broadhurst says the move follows unsettled national rates and will ease home construction by lowering mortgage costs.
The Festival of Arts runs April 18 to 25 at Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church Seville. Entries due April 3 from 1 to 4 p.m. and April 4 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the church. Exhibits may include paintings photography embroidery sculpture poetry plays hymns and more all expressing the entrant's religious understanding. Special programs feature Washingtonians chorus April 18, two one act plays April 21 and Cloverleaf Concert Band April 25.
