Youngstown Ohio March 22 plans near completion for the 21st district Rotary Conference to be held April 16 and 17 with an expected crowd surpassing 1500 from northern Ohio. Rotarians and wives will host delegates and many clubs plan to attend in a body.
The R H S teams closed their basketball season with a double win over the alumni last Friday. The girls, facing many old stars, delivered one of their best games as they won the match. In the boys game the alumni led early and held a big advantage until Kunkler’s late-side basket sealed a 41 to 40 victory for R H S as the whistle ended the excitement.
Crowds pack Branigan hall Saturday for a Dad Haskins music dance. Elmer Maurer called the old dances and earned high praise. A second Branigan hall event is set for Saturday March 27.
A Tuesday afternoon benefit bridge hosted by the Wednesday Bridge and Friday Afternoon clubs drew eight tables. Top scorers were Mrs. Weiss, Mrs. Rohrer, and Mrs. Parkinson. prizes included a nightgown, pillowcases, and bath towels. The group contributed $48 and 38 quarts of canned fruit to Mrs. Faber and enjoyed tea and cakes at 4:30.
Farmers in the area are invited to a Fordson tractor power demonstration on Saturday March 27 at 1 oclock in Nelda Ohio. R V Fredrick the local Ford dealer and farm equipment distributors organize the event with exhibits on tractor power cost reduction labor savings and improved farm work efficiency. Officials and farmers from the county are expected to attend to compare equipment and consider Fordson for the coming season.
A reader letter from Rittman boosters argues against a lake plan in northeastern Ohio. The author claims a 24 mile by nearly one mile water body would flood Wayne County farms, create a malaria incubator, ruin cornlands, depress land values, and threaten public health. The piece contends the project would threaten rail and water channels and general safety, urging protest.

At the American Legion Auxiliary regular meeting Tuesday evening a 3 pound box of chocolates was enjoyed by all attendees. Donor was Mr Chas Snyder, president of the Rittman Businessmen's Assn. The Auxiliary have accepted no proposition to feed the R. Businessmen in the near future.
Dr L A Adair of Wooster takes temporary charge of the county health office replacing Dr Barrett until a successor is named. Adair previously served in this role and knows the routine. A Snake Charmer Happy Ballas, Ohio Pool Room proprietor, killed three snakes on March 18 and displayed an 18 inch snake at his business. The primary grades in 138 costumes will perform The Awakening operetta March 30 at 7 30 pm in the high school auditorium.
The Wayne County Board of Health will hold a Saturday afternoon meeting to elect a health commissioner to succeed the recently resigned Dr C Barrett.
Maurer Tire Shop installs advanced vulcanizing gear from Geevent Manufacturing of Cincinnati. The shop claims the new method allows flawless repairs on both ordinary and balloon tires and notes the repair man recently completed vulcanizing training at Mirestone Rubber.
The glee club met Monday evening with about thirty girls present. After business and the program a tempting lunch was served. Next gathering is planned at the homes of Misses Sylvia and Evalyo Baker.
Monday a Frazer Young truck driven by Mr. Shrimplin of Wadsworth overturned near the W and L railroad tracks between Sterling and Jackson. Tuesday another truck from the same company was wrecked when it toppled over a culvert near Medina. Mr Frank Lesher was the driver in the latest incident as crews worked to recover the remaining wreckage.
Rittman businessmen gathering in the Legion hall discussed advancing the reorganized club reports attendance at 50 percent and plans to place a lane at village limits. They considered city beautification with shade trees and noted a future fundraising feed. The American Legion Auxiliary pledged service when needed.
A meeting was held Wednesday night to organize a summer baseball club. Indications point to Rittman fielding a team again, possibly as strong as or better than prior campaigns.
Mrs Clarence Peterson has come home from Wooster City hospital after an operation on March 9. She was brought home Wednesday evening and is resting there.
The Ohio Near East Relief committee launches an orphan sponsorship plan selecting 38059 Bible land children from photographs. Sponsors become a fairy godparent for a child ages 10 to 16, with $100 yearly support until self-sufficiency, or $500 to fund one child now.
Eighteen members of the Cottage Club met Monday evening at the home of Mrs Herbert Lonarz after the business session. A delicious luncheon was served by the hostess.
The Queen Esther Circle of the Christian church will meet Thursday afternoon at the home of Strs. Sue Smith on Fourth Street. Fancy work will be the diversion of the afternoon.
After the second Monday of April, which is taxisting day, returns will be made to the county and on blanks that soon will be available. Plans are being made to have these blanks placed in banks and other well known places where citizens can have access to them.

Sunday guests at Hagler Kaser home Keller's Corners included Elizabeth Rothmeyer John Deshler Harold Guthrie and Robert Guthrie from Canton. The L J Blair family moved to Irvin Fritz property former Columbia residents. Ira Boyer and Ed Schumaker visited Creston business callers.
L E Overholt, street commissioner, reports a busy period cleaning streets after a harsh winter left them dirty and refuse-strewn throughout the city.

The Ladies' Aid of the U B church will hold a bake sale in Ruckel's grocery on Saturday afternoon March 27.
The Altar Society of St Ann church held its monthly quilting bee at the home of Mrs John Herte. The group shared a dinner and discussed the next meeting to be hosted by Mrs Alphus Goffinet on April 1. Attendees included Mrs Arthur Goffinet and Lucille, Mrs Mary Mone, Mrs Staxle Motoe, Mrs Celia Zeigler, and many others with several children present.
Wednesday evening guests attended the Statora District meeting in Rittman where Nepuly Vertia Mag low of Skutbey reviewed the ritual work. Rittman temple was honored again by performing at the Orrvilly district convention in May. Wooster Pythian Sisters and Brothers joined a covered dish luncheon at 6 o clock.
Mrs Obas Rohrer and Mrs di Urophy won first and second prizes at a Wedgner Ridge event hosted by Mrs J J Gannon on St Patrick's Day. The evening featured games and music with young girls entertained for Josephine's birthday. Green and white decorations set the dining room.
Friends gathered Wednesday evening for a birthday party honoring Mant 7 moanamore and Delos Lowman. The event featured a lucky din and social hour as the 13th birthday was celebrated with pleasant reminiscences.
Supt Garver L L Haney and H A Kirittith attended the aphdolmastien banquet at the Episcopal church Wooster Wetanaday Aventue. J A McDowall of Ashland will address the meeting.
