Rittman Voters to Decide City Income Tax on May Ballot
The council approved placing a half percent city income tax on the May ballot pending 60 percent voter approval for a July 1 1965 start. Revenue expected at about 70000 with half for capital projects and half for admin and operating costs. The tax applies to wages and net profits of workers in or from Rittman, excluding state and federal employees and certain recipients.

Colleen O Neal, who lost her sight after brain surgeries, advances through Braille with guidance from Miss Myrtle Wells, a 62 year old Ohio State educated teacher from the Canton District Division of Service for the Blind. Wells travels across 19 counties to aid Colleen in reading, self discipline, and studies in history science health spelling and math as she recovers.

The program includes 100 new lines for the Rittman exchange and additional interconnection with Sterling, plus major outside cable and aerial work to shift from party lines to individual service. Youngster dies of meningitis in Marshallville family tragedy
Michael Kennedy 3 son of Mrs Doris Kennedy of Marshallville died at Akron Children's Hospital after infectious meningitis. The death follows a year of losses in the Kennedy family including Melvin Kennedy drowned at Berlin Dam and Richard Kennedy killed in a Barberton wreck. Survived by parents Thomas and Doris, three brothers Thomas John and Robert, a sister Betty, grandparents Roy and (name unreadable) Trent.
