Rittman High School basketball star Jerry Whims earned first-string guard on the Central Buckeye League All-Star team after totaling 85 points in league play, second to Orrville’s John Hull who had 110. Kerry Lambert Jim Zimmerman and Bill Duckworth of Rittman also drew votes with 83 points and multiple first-place ballots, while Zimmerman netted 63 points and four first-place votes. Band Mother's Club Holds Meeting At President's Home
The Band Mother's Club met at president Mrs. Bess Gillman's home with eight members present. They planned a band members banquet for Monday April 26 at 6 pm in the First St. school cafeteria. Mrs. Gillman started the TV during the interruptive business portion and guests Mrs. E. J. Mc Connell and Mrs R. D. Wenger, vacationing in New York City, were noted in the front row. Hermina Lendy Society held a guest night in Milton Presbyterian church with thirty four attendees. Mrs Ed Taylor and Mrs Ray Lance led devotionals before guest entertainer Mrs P M Hawkins showed slides from Rev Cecil Hawkins illustrating Peru near Lima. A vocal duet by Mrs Art Bauman and Mrs W F Davis with Miss Harvetta Shook on piano followed. A bake sale was scheduled for Saturday April 1 at Frye Agency on S Main St to raise funds for missionary work. Remembrances were sent to Mrs Pearl Simonton, Nancy Harris, and Donald Garison. A joint meeting of the four church missionary groups was announced for April with Tuesday April 27 named.

Jesse Watts charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated was fined 100 dollars plus costs and two weeks in county jail with jail sentence suspended on surrender of license for three months.
