PTA Meeting Sets Charity Sale and Education Talk
The Parent Teachers Association met Monday at 8 pm with about 45 members present in the high school auditorium. Mrs Ed Barnhardt announced a combined Bake Sale White Elephant Sale and Rummage Sale at Diversion Hall on Saturday April 3 doors open at 9 am. Dwain Ark from Cuyahoga Falls spoke on The High School Program for non college preparatory students. He cited Ford Foundation support for a year long travel study to study successful practices for non college preparatory high schools. He described seeking lists of outstanding schools from state education offices and visiting those with strong curricula activities and guidance, stressing staff attitude as key to school success. The meeting was called to order by President Russell L Lewis with minutes read by Mrs Frances Sandrock and a treasurer's report by George Griffith.

Death Reported of Cpl Eugene Helms in Korea
Mr and Mrs Henry Helms of N State St informed the press that their son Cpl Eugene Helms died October 29 1950 in a Korean prison camp. He had been missing in action since July 20 1950 and would have turned 24 last July. He attended Rittman High School and worked for Ohio Block Co in the container department. He joined the Army in 1948 and landed in Korea in May 1950.

Eastern Stars Honor Ex-Officers At St Patrick Dinner
Past Matrons and Past Patrons of the Order of Eastern Star received corsages and boutonnières made of ribbon and gilded pennies marking their service dates at a Thursday Masonic Hall meeting. Girl Scout Week Celebrated by Rittman Troops in Ohio
March activities across Rittman area Girl Scout troops include English Tea events and cookie fundraisers. Troop 6 A hosted leaders Mrs Ira Talbot and Mrs Jay Geitgey with guests from Troop 5 including Mrs Robert Reiss. Lucille Woods spoke on Girl Guides and daffodils were given as keepsakes. Troop 7 held meetings in Diversion Hall with food projects and receipts. Troop 5 moved meetings to Wednesday, with Karen Adams elected treasurer and cleanup roles filled. Brownie Troop 1 A elected Linda Hoff president and handled knot tying and first aid plans. Troop 8 resumed crafts and St Patrick’s Day activities were noted.
