Church to Observe Priest Ordination Jubilee
Friends of Father John Farrell pastor of St Ann's plan a celebration for his 50 years of priesthood on Sunday June 19. Farrell was ordained June 17 1905 at St Mary's Seminary Cleveland and has served the local parish since 1922 except for a brief vacancy. Judge Brenneman Warns Six Juveniles After 23 Break-Ins
Judge Myron Brenneman presided over six Rittman teenagers charged with 23 break-ins. Each boy confessed and received a 60 day jail term with probation until age 18. Prosecutor Lichty called it the worst juvenile crime outbreak in his tenure.

One man, Trent Bayes, 25, formerly of Rittman, remains at large of a seven man armed robbery gang broken up last week by law enforcement. Six members were arrested across Ohio over ten days, tied to 11 robberies including the Creston Sale Barn heist. The gang netted over $7,500.

A repeat performance of the Rittman PTA Showboat Minstrels will be given Saturday evening at the Marshallville school. The show is sponsored in Marshallville by the Boy Scout Committee. Penny Reffert 12 will represent Rittman HS in the spelling contest. Arthur Hall 12 placed second in verbal, Ronald Carnahan 12 was second in written. Other sixth to eighth graders competed.
