German Arrested Alien Enemy Lived in Rittman
Henry Koop alias Charles Schmidt was arrested in Rittman by Marshal Cox on charges of defrauding a boarding house keeper. After hearings before Mayor Shackelford he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 30 days in the Canton workhouse plus costs. later sent to Stark county prison. Koop is an alleged alien enemy born in Hanover Germany, unregistered with federal authorities, and his case may be referred to federal prosecutors.

Oglethorpe with Wayne County contributing five, Medina ten, and Canton sending twenty-one for medical advisory board classification. Washington issued a call for 95,000 for the first draft. Ohio will supply about 7,000, with Wayne County likely contributing about 25 from class one. The board has completed exams for all class one and accepted 1,000 men. no further examinations are planned unless specialists are needed.
