Pool Hours and Activities Announced by Director

Announcement by Don Dupper outlines pool hours daily from 1 to 6 and 6 to 9 pm with free admission for six year olds and 15 cents for six students. Senior tickets and family passes are priced, swimming lessons start next week, and lifeguards Sam Williams Jr. and assistants Marilyn Harrington Dixie Hardgrove are named.

Youth Courtesy Week Winners Headed for Niagara Falls Trip

Twelve winners of the Youth Courtesy Week contest will take an all expense paid three day trip to Niagara Falls New York leaving from Rittman Monday June 13. They will tour American and Canadian falls view points and ride the boat under the falls. Parents meet Mougey Sunday night to receive trip details. Education Board Plans Sell Main Street Homes

Rittman Board of Education authorized legal counsel C. E. Rhonemus to proceed with selling two homes on North Main Street tied to a school expansion plan. The board also accepted the resignation of Eunice Stentz who has moved to Wadsworth to teach there.

Rittman High School Alumni Picnic Set for June 19

Rittman High School Alumni Association announces the sixth annual reunion for Sunday June 19 in the large pavilion at Rittman Central Park. David Fredrick serves as president in charge of arrangements with Mrs. Glenn Haller as vice president and Mrs. William Swartz as secretary treasurer. Coffee will be furnished, bring table service, a basket picnic dinner at 1 p.m. DST.

Rittman Press Shifts to Thursday Publication

The Rittman Press will publish on Thursdays starting June 13, moving from Wednesday mornings to Thursday afternoons to better cover local news. Publisher Russell W. Frey says the change serves readers and advertisers, with news copy due Wednesday evening and ads due by 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Rittman Council OKs one year lease for baseball field

Rittman Council held a special meeting to authorize a one year renewable lease of the 3.6 acre Ohio Boxboard Co baseball field behind the Strickland Garage. The company will renovate the field and install amenities while the city provides lighting and ground maintenance. Wesley Fawcett was hospitalized in Wadsworth after illness from a barber shop visit.

Bloodmobile to Visit Rittman in August

The Bloodmobile will be in Rittman on Wednesday August 24 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Chairwoman Mrs W W Bodager urges new and regular donors to reserve time. RHS Grads Win Danforth Awards

Patty Lichty and James Hile were named Danforth Award outstanding girl and boy in the Rittman High senior class. Lichty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Lichty, has held class treasury, NHS member, yearbook staffer, Future Teachers of America president, chorus singer, and drama cast member. She plans to enter Muskingum College to become an elementary teacher. Hile, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Hile, served on student council.

Driver in Doylestown crash dies in Barberton Hospital

Andrew Yarkey, driver of the car that crashed into trees along the highway in Doyles town May 30, died Saturday in Barberton Hospital. He had been in critical condition since the crash and was the only traffic fatality of the holiday weekend in the area.

Former Rittman Pastor Takes Cleveland Post

Rev. Edward S. Head Cheon former pastor of Milton Braty terians Church in Rittman has become assistant pastor at Lakewood Presbyterian Church. He led the Rittman church from 1928 to 1941 before serving in Lorain and as secretary of the Presbyterian Union, then pastoring Bethany Presbyterian in Cleveland starting 1949.
