The Rittman school board voted to admit non district children if tuition is paid and release is secured. Booster club won permission to store donated auction items in the primary building. Garden club gains Friday auditorium use for a movie. New arithmetic books approved for grades 3 8. Superintendent notes 944 total pupils next year. Music supervisor candidate James Reiker from Baldwin Wallace. Few home economics and grade school teaching posts. Special meeting set for June 15 at 1 p.m. to open bids for a new building.
About 2500 questionnaires were distributed to Rittman industrial workers to determine how many families want to move to Rittman and how many current residents need larger housing. The survey, organized by the Rittman Chamber of Commerce, aims to provide accurate data so builders can plan housing to meet demand. Kenneth W. Osborne leads the effort with Robt Freed and Russell W. Frey assisting.

Water and smoke hurt adjoining areas. eight tons of newsprint ruined. Loss estimated 15000 to 20000 dollars. Cause undetermined. Rittman Publishing Company offers assistance.
Bids for the proposed sidewalk construction were opened at a special council meeting Tuesday evening. A G Goffinet submitted a low bid of 32893.58 with Wooster Concrete Floor Co at 34946. After review the council awarded Goffinet the contract, requiring 40 percent work this year and the balance in 18 months.
The Rittman teachers chart summer plans including travel time at home trips to Cedar Rapids Iowa and Chicago visits to New York and Akron University summer school and farming duties. Several will work at home or attend institutions while others will travel or stay near Lake Erie.

The contract adds three paid holidays New Year s Day Decoration Day and Thanksgiving and retains four tracked holidays. Negotiations ended last Friday after talks begun April 15 with company and union representatives.
Rittman Boy Scouts will conduct another paper drive on Saturday June 5. Residents are asked to bundle old paper and place it at the curb for collection. Proceeds benefit scouting activities.
The first prize for the Bonus Night award this Saturday will be 100 dollars after the top prize remained unclaimed at last Saturday's drawing. Two steel lawn chairs were awarded by J W Srye Furniture Co last Saturday to Frances Connock and Mary Bauman.

The Rittman Garden club invites the public to a free movie and discussion on DDT and 2 4D for insect and weed control at the high school auditorium on Friday June 4 at 8 pm. A color film on tulips and other bulbs will be shown. The program explains potential benefits of these formulas with no admission.

Mrs E W Waters aged 72, mother of Mrs M R Ritter, died at her Sharon Center home from a heart attack about 3 a.m. Wednesday June 2. Funeral services set for 2 p.m. Friday at Hilliard Funeral Home Wadsworth. Burial in Sharon Center cemetery.
The Wayne County Shoes for Relief Drive will be held in Rittman Friday June 4 with a door to door canvass for old shoes. Residents should place shoes on their doorstep by 9 am. Donations of clothing and money are also welcome. Rural contributors may leave donations at Milton Presbyterian Church until 4 pm. Collectors will wear red armbands.
Ralph Krabill, cashier of the Rittman Savings Bank, announced this week that real estate taxes are due and payable at the bank. The notice calls on taxpayers to settle their taxes efficiently through the bank window.
