RHS Class of 55 to Hold Reunion at Clay Park

Drunken driving and peace charges heard in Rittman court
In Mayor John Baldwin’s court last week three Rittman residents faced charges. William Clark paid 100 dollars plus costs and received three days in jail for drunken driving. Androth Robinson paid ten dollars plus costs for disturbing the peace, while Millard Watts was found not guilty of the same charge. Justice Milton Hughes then fined James Beckett 100 dollars plus costs and sentenced him to three days in jail for drunken driving.

Newly Remodeled Legion Home to Host Saturday Fish Fry
The American Legion Home on E Sunset reopens after an $8000 remodel with a fish fry Saturday night July 30 open to the public. Lions Club and other groups gain a large meeting hall while kitchens and smaller rooms add versatile use. Legion members assisted with work, including laying brick, wiring, plumbing, and carpentry. Cooks led by Mutt Wenger John Wenger and Joe Wald will prepare the meal.

Rutrian Council Approves Recreation Director Hire
At a Monday meeting the Rutrian Council stalled Hickin Ave curb and gutter plans and approved Lyn Castor as a full time recreation director for Rittman at 300 dollars monthly. The move follows prior part time staffing and aims to expand the city recreation program with tennis courts a volley ball league and youth activities.

A Pittsburgh man 84 and his daughter were killed near Rittman when their Buick failed to stop at a sign and was struck by a northbound bus on Rt 94. Four bus passengers had minor injuries. Miss Maury was cited for the stop sign violation. Funeral services planned in Pittsburgh.
