Other notes include a heat wave solution by Thomas La-Bo, Clyde Ambrose’s daring fire engine red sports car appearance, a 1947 Dodge Club Coupe win for a Barberton buyer at Rich Motors, and Paul Baker of Rittman winning a $69.95 wrist watch from a 39 cent polish purchase. Everett Winkler learns his son Dick, stationed with the army in Korea, called from Japan during a rest visit, costing about $12.50 for the call.

Doylestown Homecoming Opens With Wet Prizes and Exhibits
Doylestown prepares for a multi day homecoming with a giant water tank dunk tank and nightly drawings featuring prizes such as a jeep fat fryer and a Chevrolet. The event includes a public health exhibit, free movies, an X ray truck on Saturday, accordion music by the Cindrich Sisters, and the Fairmont Children’s Home band. A parade at Memorial Park Saturday at 1:15 offers prizes from fifty cents to four dollars across 43 categories. Rides cost five cents and refreshments are discounted 2 to 5 pm. Sponsors include Hummel’s Gulf Service, Nichter Floral, Whitman Chevrolet, and others. The celebration is open to all, not just locals, with firemen, Legion, and Lions as organizers.

Mardi Gras To Have King Queen Again This Year
The Rittman Mardi Gras will crown a child king and queen again this year chosen by popular vote among ages four to six. Mrs James Black Recreation Supervisor will run the event set for August 19. Details and a ballot appear in the Rittman Press next week. Last year Harold Gillespie and Kathy Lavery held the titles.

Andrew Misak 78 Dies in Creston
Andrew Misak age 78 died at his Creston home after living there five years previously residing in Cleveland. He was a machinist by trade and a member of the Lutheran church in Cleveland. Survived by nieces and nephews. Services were held Saturday morning at J. C. Murray Funeral Home Creston conducted by Rev. Harry Boyer of St Mathews Lutheran Church. Burial followed in Cleveland cemetery.

Board of Education Buys Hilltop Land for New Grade School
The Board of Education of Hittman purchased a 20 acre plot on Metzger Ave for $30,000 to build a new grade school in the western city. Architects Spalin and Barnes of Cleveland will present sketches in weeks as plans advance toward late 1956 completion. Funds hoped from the recent school bond levy will cover most costs.
