Akron police veteran Captain A A McConnell aged 66 died at his home 145 Westwood Avenue on July 24 after months of illness He served 37 years rising from patrolman to traffic department captain in 1923 He was born in Rittman Ohio December 1862 and worked at Webster Camp Lane Machine Co He joined police in 1892 supervised traffic and organized the department He refused retirement two years ago and was a member of the Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias His widow and two sons survive Funeral services set for Saturday afternoon Details not reported.
Alfred McClelland born March 5 1835 in Sugar Creek Township Wayne County Ohio died July 23 1929 at 94 years 4 months 18 days after a brief illness. Survived by daughter Mrs Aaron Pifer three grandchildren Nelson Sheets Carl Pifer Elden Pifer ten great grandchildren one brother James McClelland of Dalton Ohio Civil War veteran associated with Rittman American Legion funeral Thursday at 2 00 pm conducted by Rev E L Ortt and the American Legion burial Easton Cemetery with Good and Bicksl er in charge.
Mr and Mrs William Ritter and granddaughter Dale with Mr and Mrs Melvin Ritter depart for Akron then Buffalo where joined by Mr and Mrs Raymond Ritter and a brother and wife. The party continues to Hastings Ontario the fishing mecca. They return July 29 and will camp at E Reservoir before resuming work.
