Gladys Becker four years old daughter of Mr and Mrs Martin Becker was seriously cut on the foot while playing near their home at 16 South 1st Street. She stepped on a broken olive bottle and the glass tore flesh from her great toe. Four clamps hold the flesh in place and doctors expect healing.
The Press notes local talk on forming a band led by a dedicated leader with 15 or 16 players meeting weekly since spring. While concerts draw crowds, finances remain scarce as only the fire department and Legion contributed so far. A subscription effort is urged to support next year’s budget and summer performances.
John W Aby age 68 a longtime resident of Creston died Wednesday afternoon at his Sterling Avenue home. He is survived by his wife a son Harry Aby a grandson two brothers William and Robert of Bellaire and two sisters Mrs Rosie Hochstrasser of Bellaire and Mrs Mollie Aby of Falls Creek Pa. Funeral services Sunday afternoon at the chapel with Royce Stockham conducting J C Murray in charge of arrangements.
Real estate sale of A. F. Schaffter’s estate last Saturday saw two Rittman homes bought by Ruben Beery for 6100 and a farm purchased by Ray Saal and Ira Thisler for 4700 Auctioneer C J Steiner noted swift bidding with first parcels sold at 1 pm and the farm an hour later Appraised values stood at about 9000 for the Beery home pair and 5500 for the 100 acre farm.
Mr and Mrs Melvin Troxell left Wednesday for a trip to Niagara Falls and to Mr Troxells home in Pennsylvania The couple were married June Mrs Troxell Irene Oxenrider of near Madisonburg Edward Leichty is taking Mr Troxells place on the main route for 10 days Experts have calculated the most economical speed is about 35 miles an hour as it balances time tire wear gas use and rubber without wasteful travel
All Aboard For The Big Picnic. The Rittman Community Premic will be held at Ceauga Lake this Saturday. Committees report everything ready and many attendees expected. Programs were published last week with food and prizes. Fourteen big houses are chartered and will depart the Square early morning for the lake and return in the evening.
Cleveland theatergoers will see Women Go On Forever at the Ohio Theatre starring Mary Boland. The comedy drama features three killings and three weddings amid a boarding house setting, with suspense and humor throughout. The play opens Sunday July 21 with matinees on Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Public etiquette guidance advocates keeping control, avoiding pushy behavior, and showing dignity. It covers pairs stepping aside, not crowding sidewalks, avoiding loud talking, and gentlemen offering help to ladies, escort rules in crossings, theatres, and public transport with emphasis on kindness and proper conduct.
The Rittman Fire Department organizes a mid-summer festival from July 22 to 27 featuring the Warry Six attractions. The vote called it “the largest and best pienté ever.”
Rittman Fire Department responded to an alarm at 12715 Sanday Hight in front of Ebert's Masse store. The blaze covered a four plane box area and was extinguished with difficulty. A cigarette likely caused the fire.
Marshal Mills probes a buried cache on Obadih Friday’s residence after raids uncover gallons of raisin trash and a damaged stir, linking Obadich to past thefts. Obadich pleads guilty amid a stubborn doubt over his nine year hold on the hidden bounty. Additional arrests include Jay Chesberg and two others fined for liquor violations. John King and Gaula Smith fined for possessing liquor and sent to the work house unable to pay.
A Scout unit departs Sunday for Camp Manitn touting an up to date facility blending recreation with training. Scouts Sharkleford and Horlale rode 60 miles for morale. Ivory scout tested a pack stunt. Stunts by Silver Fox and Beaver patrols included boxing matches. Dostal wins heavyweight on points. Snyder wins lightweight on points. Inter-Patrol contest remains active with Flying Eagle leading at 1142 points followed by Silver Fox 1016, Beaver 979, Bob White 668.
Paul Csuhta aged 19 slipped at a pasting machine in the Ohio Boxboard Co on Thursday forenoon catching his right foot. The injury was a badly laceration with severe hemorrhage requiring several stitches. His parents live on Seneca Street.
A local economy store announces a clearance sale with strong first day results. Merchant Mr. Escoultz states the sale is going well and the double page bill from the office is drawing customer attention.
Florence Limb reports that the tax books will close July 20 as the county aims to settle unpaid taxes. A local bank states all taxes paid to date by residents should prevent further penalties.

Mina Virginia attended the wedding of college chum Miles Mary Mellenry of Minerva to Mr Ralph Manchanter at Minerva Floreneau. The couple will reside in Deaumont Texas where Mr Manchanter holds a position with the Austin Construction Co. Mrs Manchester has been a guest at the A. N. Thomas home this past winter.
Observers note rapid progress on the new post office site near the Ewarts Building. The brickwork is brick and black mortar, with the foundation rising 3 to 4 feet, and workers claim the structure will be unmatched in Stittman for beauty and speed.
The regular meeting of Ritiman Raw No 474 WB A All was held Tuesday evening with 19 members present. Plans were made for the annual plente at Lake on August 14 for WB A members and families. Supper will be at o'clock and members asked to attend with well filled bankets. Next meeting is Tuesday evening August 13 at 6 o'clock sharp.
The fourth annual reunion of the class of 1925 was held Tuesday evening in Rittman. Fifteen of the twenty four members attended a delicious picnic supper after which they went to Lowe's Theatre in Akron for a show.
