Fran Sandrock, long time Press reporter, received an Red Cross certificate for extraordinary personal action after performing mouth to mouth resuscitation on a classmate at West Hill School. Lanny Salisbury collapsed from pneumonia and blue lips. doctor arrived and boy was sent to Akron Children's Hospital. Richard Mowrer presented the award.

New Procedure In Selecting Royal Pair
A new method for choosing the Mardi Gras king and queen was announced by co recreation director Gerald Whims. One candidate from each of four parks will be selected by playground children, with a ballot allowing all attendees to vote for the grand winner. Edward C Schaffter son of Mr and Mrs Carl Schaffter of Rittman Road has enlisted in the United States Army under the buddy plan with Alton L String field of Valley View Drive Wadsworth. He will leave Wednesday for basic training at Fort Jackson South Carolina. After training the pair will be stationed in Hawaii according to recruiting officer Sergeant C Hallas.

A final plea for urgently needed blood donors was made by co chairs Mrs Glen Butler and Mrs Harry Ditch to report to the Blood mobile at American Legion Hall on Monday. They urge donors be on hand due to summer vacation accidents and note transportation and babysitting are available. The blood aids surgery and gamma globulin vaccines to prevent measles, a need cited by Rittman mothers this year.

Four Beauties Seek Doylestown Queenship
Four candidates named for the Doylestown Homecoming Queen race by the JayCees are Sharon Frase Carol Hajek Carol Slate and Daisy Parker. Voters may cast ballots with purchases at Doylestown businesses ahead of the coronation set for Thursday July 26 at 10 p.m. A trophy awaits the winner and runners up. All four will ride the JayCee float in the July 25 parade at 7 30 p.m. Frase 17 a DHS senior and babysitter. Hajek 17 a DHS graduate who will attend Ohio State University. Parker 20 a DHS graduate working in packaging company accounting. Slate 20 a DHS graduate and student at Bowling Green University taking Kent State courses. The event is sponsored by the American Legion Lions and volunteer firemen.

Watershed Loan Aids Chippewa Project in Ohio

Accident on Route 504 injures driver near Rittman
Abraham Hemming of Steelng was taken to Wadsworth Hospital Monday after his car ran off the right side of Route 504, about a half mile west of Rittman, just before 5 30 pm. The vehicle crossed the road, stopped on the Lann Miller property. Investigated by Wayne County Sheriff and local officials.
