Easton Skywatch Tower Built by Volunteers for State First
Easton Observation Post opened to support border-area air watch with a 35 foot tower built entirely by donated materials and citizen labor. Ninety four volunteers signed up of a needed one hundred fifty with shifts organized across Easton Doylestown Marshallville and Rittman. Volunteers urged to report to Jerome Dannemiller and local coordinators for training and ongoing air reports.

Postpone Picnic After Polio Cases Reported
Public concern grew as the Ohio Boxboard Company picnic set for July 26 was postponed by the Employees' Benefit Association after a supervisors led vote. The first polio cases in Rittman were reported this week, Frederick Winkler Jr. two and a half years old, and his cousin Daniel Winkler, three, both from the same household, with Frederick Jr. hospitalized in Akron.

City council approved widening sections of Main Street and Sheldon Avenue to accommodate a new $150,000 store building on the corner of North Main and Sheldon. Abutting property owners will cover about $18,000 of the cost. C. E.
