Dairy Jubilee Draws 4500 To Rittman Plant Festival

A large crowd estimated at 4500 gathered near the Farmers' Dairy Products Co. plant south of Rittman on Route 4 for the coop erative's annual mid-summer celebration. Swiss Vocelers of Cleveland and a Negro singers group provided music while I. W Mal tach directed activities. Sales reported included 4000 pints of ice cream and 700 pounds of Swiss cheese. Sheriff Ed Mills and deputies, plus the Rittman fire department, managed traffic. One accident occurred when Mrs Ed Gi gantet of Wright sr. was struck while entering her parked car, suffering head lac erations and leg abrasions.

Births in Wadsworth area honor new arrivals

A daughter, Linds Ruth, was born Sunday July 13 to Mr. and Mrs. Stanford Ballard. Mrs. Ballard and infant are at the home of her parents in Wadsworth. Also noted: a child born to Mr. and Mrs. Ben Vaughn, a daughter, Monday morning at Wadsworth Municipal Hospital.

Fifty Dollar Give Away At Rittman Stores Saturday

Ray Steiner Cows Test High in Wayne County Dairy Contest

Three area farmers earned top ten spots for 1941 butterfat yield in Wayne County. Ray C Steiner of Sterling ranked third with a Reg Holstein cow aged six and fourth with another. Irvin Gresser, also of Sterling R D, placed fifth with a Reg Holstein aged five, Herman Blelinger of Deslestown sixth with a Holstein aged six, and Bert Harter of Doylestown eighth with a Reg Guernsey cow. Additional standings include Irvin Gresser twelfth, Herman Bidinger fourteenth, Jacob Schorle sixteenth, and Ben Saurey seventh, all with Holstein or Guernsey herds.

Route 5 Accident Victim Dies At Barberton

Arthur E. Rose a 38 year old president of Rose Rubber Co in Indianapolis died in Citizens Hospital Barberton July 10 from injuries after his auto struck a culvert on State Route 5 between Easton and Doylestown. He was en route to Akron for a conference with B F Goodrich Co officials when his car skidded on wet pavement. Rose had 20 years in rubber business and was formerly district sales manager for Michelin Tire Go in Indianapolis.

Police News Charge Leads to Fine for Local Man

Jack Gilkérseri of Rittman was arrested Saturday night around midnight for intoxication and dis orderly conduct. He was tried before Mayor John Baldwin and fined five dollars plus costs.

The 1942 budget proposed by Clerk McCracken was approved and sent to the county for review. debt payments like 3000 dollars for City Hall constrain operating funds within the 10 mil limit. Mayor Baldwin’s semi annual report shows 377.35 dollars in fines and fees since January.
