Doylestown Daughters of America Install Officers

Mrs Vera Daugherty to serve as deputy state councilor will install Doylestown Council No 188 in Stepfields Hall Doylestown Thursday evening. Officers elected include Ethel Benner councilor Emily Davis assistant councilor Marion Kimes vice councilor Iva Mae Adams assistant vice councilor Elizabeth Howell warden Iva Erwin inside sentinel Mildred Bush outside sentinel Mamie Seller recording secretary Mary Stauffer assistant recording secretary Esther Birbeck assistant financial secretary Elsie Evans treasurer 18 month trustee Emily Davis captain of degree teams. An honor roll for perfect attendance will be awarded for three months beginning this meeting with refreshments and social hour to follow.

Library officers elected and opening planned

At the city library in the grade school building officers were elected Rev Leonard E Smith president Mrs Lewis Whitman Jr secretary and Mrs William Hertle treasurer. They will meet to choose librarians for the coming year A formal opening is scheduled Friday July 11 from 2 to 5 pm for the public and 7 to 9 pm for adults Books may be withdrawn with current Bookmobile cards or new ones issued. The library will be open Tuesdays 2 to 5 pm. Also St Peter and Paul Church Youth Sodality plans annual outing to Chippewa Lake Park Sunday with buses at 12 noon.

At 7 30 p m in the First Baptist Church Barberton Miss Elsie Christine Hess of Barberton wed Vernon Myron Blosser of Doylestown son of Mr and Mrs F C Blosser. After their East tour the couple will live with the Blosser family in Doylestown. Mrs Blosser is a 1940 Barberton Central graduate and her husband a Doylestown High School and Franklin Institute Cleveland alum now with B F Goodrich Co.

Governor Bricker Opens Seville 125th Anniversary

Governor John Bricker will speak at 4 30 PM Wednesday in Seville marking the 125th anniversary of the town founded by Henry Hosmer. Red Cross Knitting Meets Monday Before Recess

The Red Cross knitting group will meet next Monday, July 14, before a recess through July and August. Meetings resume the first Monday after Labor Day. Three-Vehicle Collision Near Wooster Injures Passengers

A 11:45 pm Thursday crash on Route 130 two miles east of Wooster involved Paul Baker of Rittman Eileen Freese of Uniontown Pa and Robert Christopher of Apple Creek. Freese’s car rear ended Baker after he slowed causing injuries to Gerald Muscat Pittsburg owner of Freese’s car. Christopher’s vehicle could not stop in time and struck the other two cars.

Silver Dollars Awarded in Csuhta Maine Draw

Fifty silver dollars given to Rittman merchants' patrons last Saturday night. Paul Ssuhta of 2463 Main Street claimed the first award of 30 dollars and Francis Moline of West Park Street claimed the second award of 20 dollars. Regular awards of 15 dollars at 8 p m and 20 dollars at 9 p m will be made next Saturday night.

Police Court Audio of Multiple Intoxication and Permit Violations

Series of minor cases heard by Mayor Baldwin and Justice Sherrick includes Harry Gussman fined 5 dollars for intoxication in Cleveland, Wayne Houser fined 100 dollars with one year license revocation, Major Shannon fined 8 dollars, and others from Canton Canton area charged with P U C O permits and speeding. Wayne County Leads State in Potato Production

The state potato office moves to Wooster to reflect Wayne County’s top production status. A community card party is planned August 20 at the High School auditorium by the Doylestown Mothers Club to raise funds for the Beant Upiform Fund with bridge euchre and five hundred tables.

Draft Draw Set for July Seventeenth Announced

Selective service headquarters announced a July 17 draft draw for newly registered 21 year olds in Washington. About 750 numbers will be drawn and 750,000 registrants are involved. The Sparrows Point district in Baltimore housed the largest single draft pool at 661 men. The ceremony is expected to be simpler, with completion in about two hours. Fort Knox training assignments include ten Wayne County draftees. Deferment provisions for men over 28 were tentatively approved by the House, prompting a call to discharge inductees reaching 29.

Mrs Hattie Thompson Dies At Wadsworth

Mrs Hattie Thompson 72, lifelong Rittman resident, died Friday in Wadsworth where she had lived with daughter Mrs D E Walls. Services Monday at Milton Presbyterian Church. Burial River Styx cemetery. Christ Zuber Dies at 78 in Rittman Area

Funeral services were held Tuesday for Christ Zuber 78 who died at his home three miles south of Rittman July 6. Burial was in Acme cemetery. Survived by wife Ella three children Willard Seville Mabel at home and Mrs John Dushenko Seville and three step children Misses Lillian Eunice Steiner both at home and Louis Steiner.

Mrs McGee's Father Buried In Alexis Illinois

The Rev and Mrs CJ McGee and sons Edwin and Roger attended the funeral of John G Axcell, Mrs McGee's father, in Alexis Illinois last weekend. He would have turned 177 next month and planned to attend Miss Rosemary McGee's Otterbein College graduation in June but remained home due to a heart ailment. Born in Sweden he served in the Swedish army for three years before emigrating after marriage and was a farmer who had visited Rittman.

Two New Teachers Appointed for Rittman Schools
