The Rittman Press will photograph all children under ten at City Hall this Saturday July 17 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Woltz Allen Studios, renowned for kids portraits, will oversee. Demand Better Phone Service at New Schaefer Building Store
The Family Shoe Store will open on Saturday July 31 on N Main street in the new Schaefer building addition. Ward Gatscher and Vernon Fry from Orrville will operate it with two full time clerks and likely a part time helper. The 24 by 48 foot space features new interiors and fluorescent lighting. An X ray fitting machine will be installed when available. Registrants at the grand opening receive gifts and three merchandise prizes of 25, 10, and 5 dollars.

Six Drivers Arrested For Reckless Driving In Rittman
The Rittman police arrested six drivers on reckless driving charges in the past week. Others faced disorderly conduct charges with fines from 25 to 40 dollars. one case involved assault and battery and another for operating with no license.

Merchants First Ard To Be 100 This Week
For the first time in weeks the first prize of 50 dollars was not claimed at the merchants drawing Saturday night. The prize will be added to this week’s drawing to make the first prize 100 dollars. Brookfield residents push council for area cleanup and better services
A Brookfield housing committee told village council that dumped cinders around the Brookfield units cause injuries and damp floors, with rats a new problem. They urged scraping the area, topsoil, and lawns. Council said cinders would be removed and incinerators and trash service improved, while street surfacing and water lines were planned with FHA approval and state help. The group also discussed a new allotment on With Wallace Riggs and With Sunset Drive, construction projected in about four months, pending utility readiness and temporary water service. Budget for the rest of the year was approved. a Salt Street burn was deemed a fire hazard. $316 was collected in June.
