School Board Rejects All Bids For North Street School Building
The board rejected all bids for the North Street School project after a single general bid exceeded the bond limit by 143 000 dollars. Painting bids for the present buildings were also rejected and an August meeting set to review costs and reopen bidding. Library reaches goal for projector drive
The Rittman Public Library nears its $250 goal for a ceiling projector for bedfast patients. Funds total $249 with delivery promised mid July. Kathleen Hostetler leads the effort with help from Three Arts Club, Catherine Twinem, and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Hauenstein.

Ohio Salt Union Approves Contract
The Ohio Salt Co and local union 12081 approved a new labor contract with an eight cent per hour wage increase. Three union meetings were held to present the agreement and the union voted to accept. The pact, in effect until July 1, 1949, keeps most terms similar to the expired contract while adding wage adjustments for skilled and unskilled workers. Negotiations involved company and union representatives.
