Five mile Ohio 57 relocation opens in Wayne County
A July dedication marks the opening of a five mile relocated stretch of Ohio 57 from the Medina Wayne County line to Ohio 585 in Wayne County. W. G. Lockhart Construction Co. led the two year project costing 1,885,118.43 dollars, joining with I 80S and U S 30 for a safer modern highway. Dewey H Harris of Erie Pa died at 70. he formerly lived in Wooster and Reynoldsville and worked 38 years for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Funeral services were held at Gillman Funeral Home with burial in Rittman Cemetery.

The Rittman Rotary Club donated four classical records to the Rittman Public Library as a memorial to late charter member Alton Ebert. The collection features organ and piano works including Arthur Rubinstein performing Beethoven sonatas Moonlight, Les Adieux and Pathetique, a Beethoven recording with Edwin Fischer conducting the London Philharmonic, E Powers Biggs piano selections from Bach to Ives, and The Heart of Piano Concerto.

Trailways Moves To New Location In Rittman Ohio
Trailways Bus Lines Inc moved on Tuesday July 6 from Stepfields Pharmacy to Sleepy Owl Restaurant at 241 E Ohio Ave in Rittman. The site now hosts Rittman City Cab with express charter and regular bus services. Doors open all day with a one hour early morning closure and 24 hour phone coverage.

City Budget Passes With 5 Percent COLA For 1972
City council approved a 744 454 budget for the coming year after a public hearing with no residents speaking. The plan includes a 5 percent cost of living adjustment for city employees and a $50 monthly rise for the mayor to 2 400. Florence E Britton 72 of 29 Fairlawn Drive died Thursday at Wadsworth Rittman Hospital after five weeks of illness. Survived by husband Samuel two sons Donald Richard and daughter Pauline Ingham along with five grandchildren. Requiem Mass held at St Ann Cemetery. Gillman Funeral Home in charge.

Jean Straub, 19, of RD 1 County Road 200, was struck by an eastbound B&O train at 7 30 am Thursday while returning from work. She pulled up too close to the crossing and was not injured. The train stopped after the collision. no citations were issued.
