R R Crossings in Rittman Get Face Lifts This Week
Two Rittman Erie railroad crossings receive upgrades this week with asphalt amacite coatings replacing rigid concrete. Sterling Ave was first completed Tuesday. Main St. is under work and should finish by Saturday. The project also includes leveling pavement 15 to 20 feet each side and plans for Trilock interlocking steel plates to follow.

Mayor Ritter Weighs Six Violators In Reckless Driving Court
Six violators appeared before Mayor Melvin Ritter this week with four facing reckless driving charges. Arnold Gunnels and Ernest Bowen paid 25 dollars plus costs for no control. Donald Reynolds and Charles Keifer paid 20 dollars plus costs. Bill Kerstetter was fined for missing license plates. William Murray paid 30 dollars plus costs after striking and threatening. he was jailed for nonpayment. Four other cases were settled: George Ewing fined 50 dollars plus costs for stabbing Charles Russell, Russell fined 10 dollars for intoxication, Thomas fined 10 dollars for intoxication, Earl Roddy fined 10 and 15 dollars with costs for license and reckless driving. John H. Jordan fined 10 dollars for driving without a license.

Council Rents New Site for City Dump and Sets Parking
City officials leased a Route 94 site near Charley’s Puddle for the city dump and abandoned a proposed S Main St location. Main St parking is limited to 15 minutes 9 am to 9 pm in front of Robinettes Drug Store, while other blocks allow one hour parking 8 am to 6 pm. The council also addressed tax collection procedures and ordered contractor followups on oiling streets.
