Funeral services for Anna Rose Weaver, 74, who died Monday in Willard hospital after a fall that fractured her hip, were held Wednesday at her Sterling home. Burial followed in Crown Hill cemetery. She lived most of her life in Sterling and leaves four daughters, a son, two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Charles Sohar 29 son of Mr and Mrs Frank Sohar of Rittman Ohio was wounded in the forehead by shrapnel from a Japanese grenade on Luzon June 16. He is back in the fighting lines with the 37th division Battery A 140th FA Bn APO 37. He hopes to be released in August as friends and fellow soldiers head home.

Teacher Shortage Evident at Rittman School Board Meeting
At the July board meeting the Rittman schools faced a shortage of at least five teachers for the next term. The board approved the tentative budget, accepted the resignation of kindergarten teacher Ila Smith to pursue Scout work, and voted contracts for two new teachers, Bernice Henry and Wayne Bennett. Ed Boyle was transferred to kindergarten and Gary Garver was absent on a fishing trip. Bennett’s contract is $1500 and Henry’s $1650.
