Three year old Owen Landis son of Mr. and Mrs. J C Landis had his left arm mangled when it was caught in an electric wringer last Monday morning. The arm was drawn through to the elbow with flesh lacerated but no bones broken. He received prompt medical care and is playing about as usual.

Forest Blough Makes Two Suicidal Attempts July 4
Forest Blough, about 22, living with his mother near Rittman, made two suicide attempts on July 4. He hung from a tree limb and then strangled himself before a knife wound in the throat. relatives intervened and he was hospitalized at Massillon. His father Joseph Blough died by suicide about four years earlier on the Broughs' farm.

Fourth of July Picnic Aboard Shook Lumber Truck

Lodi constable Way Knapp, shot June 22 in Spencer while aiding the arrest of burglars from Orrville, died June 28 in Elyria hospital. The two young bandits are jailed in Medina and charged with first degree murder after confessing to the burglary and shooting.

Reports say Barber ton and Akron men forming a rubber company considered Sterling for a factory. Kobel Taken to Akron Hospital for Appendicitis
J C Kobel was rushed to an Akron hospital Wednesday evening for an appendectomy after a physician was summoned to his Sterling home. Kobel’s sons Joseph and Charles had been killed recently in an auto accident. He was on the road to Akron shortly after the call.

Milk price rise in Rittman dairy sales
Gerberich Dairy increased milk price to 13 cents a quart on July 1, after a winter 12 cent rate and a spring 12 cent reduction. The dairy cites higher producer milk prices and a need to raise retail prices as the reason for the latest increase to 18 cents.

Coal at Reduced Prices for Factory Employees
The Ohio Boxboard Co and the Ohio Salt Co announce that their subsidiary Oco Canal Co will furnish lump coal to all employees at 75 cents per ton. The Ogo Coal Co operates mines at Lansing and supplies coal to the Rittman factories and to Ohio Match Co and Ohio Injector Co at Wadsworth.
