A groom and his best man arrived at the church five minutes before a ceremony only to discover the wedding ring and license were at home after the groom emptied his pockets. In other notes, Herman Copley of 107 Gan yard street picked green beans from his garden on Monday, June 28.
Orrville Chamber of Commerce sold a 20 lot block with plans to start home construction soon. A week ago Acme Hill near Wadsworth saw 1 764 000 eggs smashed in an accident. traffic halted hours with no serious injuries. Community auctions surface with Rotary set for July 17 and Booster club plans for July.
The Rittman Press lists initial residents for a forthcoming city directory canvass. Report errors to the press office by phone or in person as street lists are updated weekly. The directory, due Sept 1, will include resident names, a city street map, organization heads, a city sketch, and other data.
The Herberich Hall Harter allotment on West Sunset Drive has a FHA approved plot plan and construction is to begin soon.

Effective July 1 the Diana Theatre will be operated by Mr and Mrs H L Lance recently of Cleveland. They plan permanent residence at 84 Ganyard St and will oversee improvements including ventilation remodeling to expand seating to 600 and add air conditioning. Mrs Lance will serve as active manager initially.
Mrs Salina Copley of 175 N Main St won the $50 prize Saturday night. Second prize of $15 went to Mrs Harvey Kerr of 70 Grant St, with Kathryn Matye of N Seneca St taking $10. Hugh Strickland and Ralph Krabill conducted the drawing for the Rittman Press. One year subscription offered at $2.50.
The Rittman police, with the state highway patrol, will run the annual July traffic safety check. Officers will inspect horns, brakes, licenses, mirrors, mufflers, lights, and wipers. Drivers can have a personal check any time to avoid checkpoint delays and receive a state sticker after a pass.
Softball games in Rittman scheduled for next week will be postponed to the following week due to many players' vacations. Officials from the City Softball League and the Rittman Boys Softball League announced the change and plan doubleheader makeups. A L Ebert returned Sunday from a short fishing trip to Canada.
The Willow Brook council approved extending housing maintenance contracts and authorized talks on wage and condition increases for street department workers. They discussed sidewalk construction near Sterling Ave and plans to improve crosswalks and water lines on Ohio Ave and Metzger Ave, with notes issued to fund sidewalk work and a timing extension for assessments.
