Public Library Expands to House 1500 More Books

The Rittman Public Library plans a stack expansion in 1946 to add at least 1500 books, funded by $3550 from locals and industry, $750 village appropriation, and $300 memorial gift from Dr E R Alexander. The Wooster Library aids ordering and processing under a continuing loan contract.

Irpant Son of Kings Dies in Akron Hospital

Wayne Douglas King three day old son of Mr and Mrs Herman King of Fifth street died at Children's Hospital Akron at 11 pm Monday. Burial was held at Rittman Cemetery Wednesday afternoon with Rev W E Price officiating. Survived by parents and a brother Kenneth 4.

Boys Village Group Plans Rittman Meeting

A Monday evening meeting at 7 o clock is proposed for all interested in Boys Village work. The temporary committee asks every Rittman organization to send a representative to form a permanent group, elect officers, and plan support. Contributions may be given at Rittman Savings Bank.

Death of Eli Graber After Stroke While Driving

Eli Graber aged 61 died Monday night at 9 30 at his Sterling home after suffering a stroke while driving Friday night on Route 604. He spent his life in Milton Township worked as a pro for the B and O railroad survived by wife, daughter Mrs Paul Oberli of Rittman two sons Walter in the navy Edwin of Sterling and five grandchildren. School Board to Hear Progress Reports Monday

Boy Scouts Plan Town Waste Paper Drive Feb 9

Boy Scouts of troops 405 and 41 will canvass the town on Saturday February 9 to collect and bundle waste paper as part of National Boy Scout Week. Residents are urged to save paper for pickup. In a City Hall court of honor, three boys Bode Bodager Richard Grant and William Ritter earned their first class badges and Angelo Cardace received the second class badge with Scoutmaster W M Phillips assisted by F O Kanehl and the troop committee.

Peter J Liechty Dies at 79 in Wadsworth Hospital

Peter J Liechty a bachelor and retired farmer from Sterling died Saturday at 2 p m after a week long illness. He was 79 and a lifelong Milton township resident. He leaves three sisters Mrs Jacob Schorle Mrs Joe Wurgler and Mrs Anna Graber all of Aston township. Services Tuesday at 2 p m at Mrs Sam Steet residence in Sterling with Rev Russell Mast of the First Mennonite Church of Wadsworth officiating. Burial followed at Crown Hill Cemetery near Sterling.

Junior Boys and Girls Crowd Gym Program Demand

Seventy five boys and sixty girls responded to a public indoor recreation offer under the town recreation board directed by Rev. W. F. Echols. He notes two hours weekly per group is insufficient and welcomes improvement suggestions as winter activities draw crowds. junior high boys beat Congress 26 to 18, keeping an undefeated record, with home games at the high school gym. sledding and skating are available on Grandview Blvd when conditions permit.

Mrs Harmon Returns Home After Auto Crash

Mrs. Wm Harmon was sent home Monday after several days in the hospital following an automobile accident. The condition of the other involved persons and the exact circumstances were not detailed in the notice.

Plan for Rittman Seville State Route Road Project

A group from Rittman Wadsworth Medina and Wayne counties met at Rittman Savings Bank to organize plans for a proposed state highway from Rittman to Seville. The route follows existing roads toward Seville then west to Route 224 and Route 3, with about a mile of new right of way. Grades will be limited to three percent to reduce heavy trucking on Main Street Wadsworth and divert traffic from Acme Hill.

James A Bruny a 61 year old carpenter of N Fourth Street died Friday morning after a stroke left him bed bound for 110 days He returned home from calling for his daughter after work at the Ohio Boxboard Co Funeral services were held Sunday at the Ebert Funeral Home with Rev Ord Gehman officiating Burial was in Rittman Cemetery He came to Rittman from Monroe county in 1919 Surviving are his widow Priscilla three daughters Esther Kathryn and Mrs Donald Grant and a son Clarence plus one infant daughter who died in infancy
