Village of Rittman Sets 1945 Budget Totaling 39864

Village council approved total appropriations of 39864 for the new year. Funds include general 5105, contingencies 2571, safety 5500, service 11870, water 16000, cemetery 2800, street maintenance 6000, and redemption 10018. A planning commission will be named at the next meeting to study a six year improvement plan. The park board reported rising costs and replacement needs for equipment. Park Superintendent John Rohrer resigned. Council approved repainting City Hall interiors and installing blinds. A new city truck and street light work were approved for Meadowvale and adjacent streets.

Funeral services were held at Milton Presbyterian Church for Dr E R Alexander 64 a German born nurse and wife of Dr Alexander who died after a two month bedfast period following heart attacks. Burial planned in Cleveland with nephew Rev Arthur Romig of Lima assisting. Survived by husband Major Randall Alexander son one grandson two brothers and a sister. A proposal to create a small lake north of Rittman with a dam on the Medina county line was discussed before the Rotary club with Muskingum Conservancy District and Ohio Division of Conservation experts. Orrville Beats Rittman 25 13 In Buckeye League Clash

Orrville Red Riders edged Rittman High Indians 25 13 in a Central Buckeye League game last Friday. Orrville hit only three two pointers and scored little in the first and third quarters while Hawkins Wenger and Bodager led Rittman scorers. The Orrville reserves beat the Rider reserves 20 12 to stay atop the league with four wins and no losses.

Cub Scouts Form Four Dens Plan More

Four dens with 16 boys aged nine to twelve meet at City Hall last Thursday to organize Cub Scouts in the Rutman Pack. Membership costs 60 cents. den chiefs and a den mother will be selected. Pack meetings are the second Monday each month at City Hall starting February 12. Lions Club sponsors the project with Willard Hilty and Weldon Hardgrove leading organizing efforts.
