Mrs J C Sigler returned home from City Hospital in Worcester after a nine week stay following leg amputation. She is resting well and appears more content to be back home after the operation.
Local sign painter A J Gordon installed three large gold leaf raised letters for the BB and W Oil Co across the new superservice annex. The signs read Tires Batteries B and W Oil Co Greasing and Washing. The annex enables full quick service for all auto makes.
Frank Kitts of Rittman defeated George Wilson in their third meeting, knocking him out in the third round at the Sid Allen boxing show held in the Ohio Match Company's gym in Wadsworth. The main event promises Kitts against German fighter Elsel at Goodyear Ay Akron.
W. W. Bedager, secretary of the Rittman Automobile Club, announces the ninth annual meeting next Tuesday evening January 28 at the Presbyterian church starting at 6 30. Directors election is the main event with committee reports to follow and a banquet at 6 30 with a 60 cent charge to help cover expenses.
Mrs Laura Turner died at her daughter’s home in Rittman at age 68 years 4 months 28 days due to heart trouble and influenza complications. Funeral services were held January 22 at the daughter’s home and United Brethren church. interment at Knapps cemetery. Survived by husband James L Turner nine children 22 grandchildren and three great grandchildren one daughter and grandchild predeceased. She was beloved in the community for her cheerful disposition and kindness.
Dr Woo A Baldwin of Wadsworth told the Wadsworth Rotary Club that state route No 3 may be re routed to pass through Hinckley Sharon Center Wadsworth Rittman and Wooster as the direct Cleveland to Colup bus corridor. The highways department is said to consider changing route numbers to allow the shift if communities favor the plan and it could occur soon.
Quimby, father of Lucille Quimby, plans to drive from Auburn Ind to bring his daughter home for recuperation after a severe appendicitis complication. Reports earlier suggested little hope, but she has rallied and is now on the road to recovery.
The First Street School honors list names junior high and sixth grade pupils on the honor roll. Entries include Sureille Poetes Helen Faber Frederick Snyder and many others with multiple sections and class years. Some names appear multiple times or with misspellings.
Mrs. Mary Baird Bryan, wife of the late William Jennings Bryan, died at her daughter’s home in Hollywood, California, Tuesday January 21. Her husband died three years ago after a legal battle over evolution in Tennessee schools.
Rev Hendrickson attends pastors convention in Columbus for the week. Mrs V A Garver joins two Columbus conventions this week. Mr and Mrs Roy Armstrong visit with Mr and Mrs Joe Lono. Mrs Mary Williams visits daughter Mrs Scharley west of town this week.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Good & Beksler in Wadsworth for Miss Lizzie Schelb who was killed Wednesday evening after alighting from a car returning from a grange meeting. Rev Risbold of Acme Church and Rev Randall of Seville Baptist officiated. burial followed at Mound Hill Cemetery Seville. Survived by two sisters Mrs Chas Koppes of Elgria and Mrs A A Bostwick of Seville, with many friends.
In a regular meeting of the Rite man Village Council held Monday, Overholt was reappointed Street Commissioner with Mayor Hanes’ approval. He has served admirably in this role for years. A citizen voiced disapproval of traffic rules enforcement. A resolution authorized constructing a sewer on Saneca Street Extension from Wadsworth Road north about 1400 feet.
Centennial Pentecostal celebration in Columbus this week sparked discussion on Protestant unity. A merger proposal joined the Otin Cotef of Churches and the Otin Conneil of Religious Education with delegates from Rittman in attendance.
Regular Rotary meeting in Rittman featured James Garver of Mansfield and Dr Braidshaw as visitors. After luncheon, Doc Gree led a musical program with violin and piano pieces. two participants were delayed by travel troubles.
Miss Ruth Jordan a Creston art teacher and violinist joined a pleasing program on WFJC at 9 45 Sunday evening. Her group included Herbert Rodda and his daughter Jenny plus Miss Maxine Kime of Rittman.

A watchman is placed on 24 hour duty at the Shreve Market street crossing near the Pennay millroad after a deadly accident weeks ago. Nine Burbank School pupils were injured and lives were lost as they returned home from a basketball game. Within nine days electric mash signals will replace the dulled ball signals due to unusual crossing conditions.
Adis Goffinar, former owner of the Goffinet Block on South Main, will open a variety store in Rittman by late February. The old post office building at Main and Ohio will house the shop with a cream and arena color scheme and a cream parlor. The store will feature ice cream, candy, popcorn, peanuts, nut drinks, cold sandwiches, and tobacco.
The Milton Township Farmers Institute meets next Monday and Tuesday at Sterling High School Auditorium with morning, afternoon and evening sessions. Elmer Moyer, president, announces talks by Litterly of Canal Winchester and Mrs Phillips of Washington, Ohio on farm products and community topics, plus a Velvet Curtain Players comedy on Tuesday. Admission is 25 and 50 cents for the evening session featuring "Just Country Folks."

Bho Rittman Boy Scouts led by Habert Squibb run six more weeks of swimming sessions at Lincoln School Akron every Tuesday evening. First period lasts 40 minutes with Red Cross instructors teaching non swimmers followed by a general swim. They end with life saving and mount dunk drills. A fundraising promotion funds a group trip to Kent via waste paper collection for The Ohio Hoaxboard Co.
Roy Fix and Thelma Wagner were married in Orrville last Tuesday night in a ceremony performed by Pastor Iti of Orrville. The couple, announced recently, are identified with local business and community links.
Willard Spade suffered back injuries last Saturday forenoon while handling large bundles of salt ducks at The Out Salt Co. A heavy bundle struck him in the attic area, causing concern that several vertebrae may be cracked. He rested at his South Main home as doctors assess the damage.
