Miss Violet Hoover, a telephone operator at the Birt han Exchange, wed Columbus on December 2. She is now Mrs ar Flath hee. The wedding came as a surprise to friends. she plans to keep her job at the Rittman exchange briefly before possibly moving to Doylestown.
The Presbyterian church and congregation held its 50th annual meeting on Wednesday evening January 15 with supper at six. Minutes from the first meeting were read noting seven enrolled members. Reports from organization heads were presented and C B Shook and Verne Gebhart were re elected trustees. No minister was elected, and a special committee will handle duties. Mrs A L Ebert and Mrs G H Clippinger were re elected as LA organists with G H Clippinger re elected treasurer.
Albert Harold Means aged one year and four months died at his mother Mrs Frank Means home 63 Grants Rittman after a severe bout of whooping cough following chicken pox. Doctors Shong and Johnson treated him as convulsions ended his life. Funeral held Monday at the Wadsworth Reformed Church with Rev Gebhart. burial in Wadsworth cemetery. The mother Mrs Frank Means is seriously ill with pneumonia and the husband Frank Means died last Christmas from pneumonia complications.
Former Seville resident Rev E Lo Smith wed Mrs Lonette Moore of Moorland in a Moorland ceremony. The couple will live in California where he owns a bungalow. Congratulations are extended to the newlyweds.
Creston Junior High teams opened the year with wins in a Rittman gym meet. Girls led by Helen Royce and Theresa Wolfe beat opponents 1216 while the boys, paced by McAnally and Hoover, showed sharp passing and effort despite missed shots.
Boxer Kitts set for three bouts in coming weeks starting next Tuesday in Wadsworth at the Ohio Match Company gym promoted by Sid Allen. The second card features Frank Kitts against Ratherton at Goodyear gym in Akron slated for Friday June 24. The third main event pits Frank Kitts against Jon Raske in Akron with Raske noted for KO heavy record. promoter Sid Allen has targeted a February date in Wadsworth.
The office of Representative Bo McClintock reports action to obtain a bear for a park. National Park Service officials say bears in Yellowstone are hibernating and unlikely to be disturbed. Possible alternatives include obtaining a bear for Kittitas Park and further word will follow.
Wilson and Fisher represented Rittman at a Tyan Walton League gathering in Wooster Wednesday evening. Over 100 Wayne County residents attended as efforts aimed to secure 25 members for a county chapter. Fisher was elected temporary chairman and Des Jones of Wooster was named secretary. Fisher is accepting join applications to support the league’s work to preserve fish and game.
An early morning sighting last week pointed to a gigantic meteor that fell in Siberia, creating a deep lake-like crater four apse in size. Authors note Siberia’s sparse population prevented a disaster on a larger scale.
The Rittman Review regular meeting met Tuesday evening with 43 members present. District Deputy Addie Brown of Akron installed new officers for the coming year on Tuesday at 2 30. An officers meeting is set for two thirty with all officers asked to be present.
Alvin Petit, manager owner, opened a modern eatery named Birft's Restaurant in the former Evergreen space on the Wem Block. The new establishment promises 24 hour service with up to date fixtures woodwork and walls repainted.

Lizzie Scheib 66 died instantly Tuesday night after an auto collision near Seville. She rode home from a Quilford Grange meeting with neighbors and was struck while crossing toward a machine driven by a Mong Servo Station employee. She leaves a husband, sister, and several siblings. funeral and burial plans follow at Acme Church.

Mrs Frank Butterworth hosted a Kenmore District luncheon Wednesday with Mr John Iaenberger as a guest. The gathering centered around a yellow solar scheme and a large calendar centerpiece as friends recalled days gone by. Plans for future meetings at stated intervals were discussed.

Harry Hiers of the Ohio Box board Co in Rittman presided over the pulp and paper sectional meeting at the All-Ohio safety congress in Columbus at the Neil House. The session on January 14 featured addresses by L H Wendt of Hinde & Dauch Co and N H Bergatrom of Bergatron Paper Co. Akron participants included J T Kidney of Goodyear and L Hungerford of Firestone.
