Eleven Nominees for 18th Citizen of the Year
The Considered First Citizen Rittmanites nominate eleven for the 18th Citizen of the Year with the winner to be revealed at the Chamber of Commerce dinner Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Rawiga Country Club. Three Chamber directors will be elected from a slate of six. Paul A. Baker and G. Howard are up for Citizen hall of fame. The Chippewa Valley Citizens Band Radio Club hosts a coffee break February 2 at 3 to 5 p.m. at Rian City Hall. Twelve members attended a recent covered dish supper. door prizes went to Mrs. Donald Perry and Mrs. Roy Ferguson.

Rittman civic dinner selects Citizen of the Year nominee

Hospital Board Names Reach Milestone In Wadsworth Area
Board Governors Harold Grover of Wadsworth and John Zivick of Rittman lead a six member panel named to represent Milton Township Trustees and Wadsworth City Council. Dr D Oars tler of Wadsworth is appointed for the city post while Milo Stalter serves the township. The six oversee construction of the new hospital north of Rittman slated for completion this summer.

Esther Miller Haines 72 died Monday at her home 210 Industrial Street apparently from a heart attack. She lived in Rittman 50 years born in Canal Fulton. Survived by daughters Goldie Long and Ett e Ott of Rittman, step son Thomas Haimes of Steubenville, brother Aaron Jones of Fort Wayne Ind sister Lillian Rice of Houston Tex and two grandchildren. Burial in Rittman Cemetery with services by United Methodist Church officiant Rev Daniel Hiram Muler. Friends may call today 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Gillman Funeral Home.

Bid Opening Set For March 14 In Rittman School Plan
Advertising for bids on a new 1 million dollar high school in Rittman will start Feb 5 and run five weeks. Bid opening is noon Friday March 14. The project, estimated at 998000 dollars plus 100000 for equipment, includes science library seating lunchroom gym and classrooms. Architects Janussey and Schaad of Pittsburgh will provide prints at the architect’s office and at the Dodge Reports in Cleveland. A new state law requiring electric elevators may be addressed by a hearing to seek an exemption. The bond issue passed in November 1967 totaled 1225000 dollars. The district plans to remodel the present high school into a junior high. A temporary budget of 1071341 dollars was adopted as a new superintendent search begins after W H Hauenstein resigns July 31. The district will use Scout Management Institute for assistance.
