About 150 residents toured the Rittman offices and plant during National Printing Week. Guests viewed production equipment in operation and watched printing steps from forming to a plastic engraving and quick newspaper layout.
More than 4,200 people used the Rittman Recreation Building services in November and December. The figures break down to 2,053 in November and 2,245 in December. Activities include club meetings, dances, photography classes, darkroom sessions, Scout meetings, and senior and junior high recreation programs. Basketball games are hosted at North Street School for various grades.
The Mothers March on Polio captains were announced by Mrs Karl Gillman coordinator for the event set for Thursday January 27 The captains include Sylvia Hardgrove Alice Swigart Pricilla Cormany Polly Bionemus Teresa Beery Doris Wertz Katharine Steiner Katherine Killough Juanita Rupp Marie OBrien Marjorie Collier Mildred Schaad Mildred Adams Eleanor Glagsner The solicitors list will be announced next week in the Rittman Press
Convalescing Mrs George Rufener rests at her Second Street home after several days at Wadsworth hospital. She sustained a broken nose facial lacerations body bruises and severe shock from a fall at home.
The Three Arts Club of Rittman hosts a Mardi Gras card party and buffet at Recreation Hall on Saturday February 19 with a fur scarf prize displayed at J. W. Frye Co. The American Legion Auxiliary sponsors a polio benefit card party and bean supper with proceeds to the March of Dimes. Numerous church groups and youth organizations schedule meetings and events through January 25 including Scout tours, missionary society installations, and birthday observances at local halls and homes.
Rittman Rotary Club members will view the sound film Steam For Power at their noon Thursday meeting in the Evangelical United Brethren Church. Mayor John Baldwin, program chairman, will introduce the motion picture tracing steam power from the first engine to the turbine.
Floyd and several local children suffer from polio as the Rittman March of Dimes committee urges residents to support eradication efforts. Vaccine progress suggests elimination requires time and money, with the drive funding hospital care, treatments, and crutches unavailable otherwise.
B P Sandles manager of the Clark County Agricultural Society and Springfield Fair will be guest speaker at the Chamber of Commerce dinner Thursday at the American Legion Hall. The event honors Mrs R D Wenger as Bitima, with a $50 U S Savings Bond and inscribed certificate. Wenger is the fourth winner of the annual honor. Sandles will discuss his experiences as fair manager and the organization required to run such an enterprise.
At the January PTA meeting 100 people in the high school auditorium heard Nathan Ross of the Tri County Mental Guidance Center describe center functions and services available without charge to residents of Wayne Medina or Holmes counties. He answered questions about disturbed children as well.
The First Brethren Church in Rittman hosts its annual homecoming this Sunday with sermons by Dr. Herman Hoyt dean and registrar of Grace Theological Seminary Winona Lake Ind The day includes a noon covered dish dinner and a short colored movie for children plus performances by the Rittman High School Harmonettes. This year marks the fifth anniversary of Rev Ashman’s pastorate.
Mr and Mrs Elmer Cay left last Monday to spend the winter in Orlando Florida. While there Mr and Mrs Willis Cay and family of Port Clinton will occupy their home.
Seventeen representatives from civic groups met January 11 at Recreation Hall to form a committee under the Three Arts Club to promote better reading habits. They heard reports on a national study, appointed local delinquency review, and set a meeting for January 31 at Recreation Mall with Rittman high student groups invited to join the discussion.

At a Thursday evening meeting the Rittman Recreation Board voted to retain Roper Hessidence as president and J. J. Williams as secretary. Committee work includes building, summer program, baseball, and swimming pool oversight with listed members.
The national association of home builders sponsors a Chicago show with lectures on var ips problems and exhibits of the latest in home construction products. Attendees from Rittman include Andy Banders Paul Emch Jim Frye Ed Imhoff El Toy Moser and Verne Steiner.
A polio carnival is set for Friday at Ritman High School starting 7 pm with Gospelaires, booths, and a cake walk. Rex McSweeney of Wooster, Wright County chairman for the March of Dimes, will speak. booths include fish pond and fortune telling plus home made candies and popcorn. Local business drive for nationwide March of Dimes goal of 64 million. no local target yet.
At the Ohia Boxboard second bid meeting held Saturday at the Mayflower Hotel Akron 309 attendees watched 41 new members welcomed into the club. Watches were presented to the new members by President Wayne Young and Exec VP D W Mixon as part of the 25 year service milestone.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Gill and Mungad Home for George W Rosenbaum 70 who died Saturday in Wayne County Hospital He was born in Tippecanoe and lived in Rittman 31 years He worked for Ohio Box Board Co before retirement six years ago He is survived by two daughters Mrs Helen McPillan Magnolia and Mrs Lavonda Higgins Akron two sons Paul Rittman and Ralph Michigan two step sons Tom Chipman Wooster Leonard Chapman New Orleans La five grandchildren three step grandchildren two sisters Mrs Frances Williams Maud and Mrs Oda Vestal Sharonville six brothers Clyde Sharonville Brownie West Chester Charles Huntsville Andrew Joseph and Jesse Tennessee Burial was in Ritman cemetery Rev Albert Henry officiated
