Information received this week shows Gov Hero has appointed K. W. Osborne and Ralph Krabill to serve on the Wayne County Rent Control Board. The board will hold its first meeting this year in Wooster on Monday, January 19.
Eight RHS students were inducted into the National Honor Society at Rittman High School on January 8. Recitations were given by Rev. Lloyd Gressle of St James Episcopal Wooster and music by Dorothy DeVore Eileen Fackler and Robert Graber.
Rittman High cagers defeated Doylestown 61 39 at Rittman Saturday night. The Indians trailed 11 10 after one quarter but led 26 22 at halftime and 38 31 entering the final period. Ray Lance scored 26 points for the Indians, Hardgrove had 14, and Smith led Chipps with 10.
Charles E. Schieb a state sales tax examiner will be at Rittman Savings Bank during banking hours Tuesday Jan 20 to help with semi annual tax reports for taxpayers in the area He will provide guidance and assistance on filing and payments at the bank location.
The News Banner reports 108 births in 1947 at Wadsworth Hospital, surpassing 1946 and 1945 figures. newborns recorded include a son to Hoge of Doylestown on Jan 2, a daughter to Hornyak on Jan 4, a daughter to Black on Jan 5, a son to Berlin of Doylestown on Jan 6, and a son to Homer Stephens of Rittman RD on Jan 11.
Myron Steiner of Sterling R. C. attended the Ohio State Auctioneers Association convention at the Neil House in Columbus last Saturday.
Funeral services were held for Iran Woyat 11 at St Ann's Catholic Church with Rev Father John Farrell officiating. Burial followed at Doylestown Catholic Cemetery after he died from being kicked while watering horses at home. Survived by mother Hazel Woyat and 13 siblings including twin Ivan, with Ebert Funeral Home handling arrangements.
The village filed suit in Wooster common pleas court against Mary and Albert Hanzel of Barberton to obtain compensation for real estate between Salt street and the B and O right of way. The council voted October 27 1947 to take action to secure the property for a parking area. Solicitor C E Rhonemus filed the petition.
A public debut of Ford’s 1948 truck line occurred Friday January 16 at Freed's Ford Service in Rittman. The line features post war models with a wide range of configurations and engineering changes. The Series F-7 and F-8 are the largest Ford has built with gross weights of 19 000 and 21 500 pounds.
