Frederick A Ott 79 retired farmer dies in North Lawrence
Frederick A Ott 79 a retired farmer died Sunday night from a heart condition after several weeks of poor health. He was taken to Dunlap Hospital and pronounced dead. He was a trustee and longtime member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church of North Lawrence. He married Alma Brown in 1903 and celebrated their golden wedding in 1953. He is survived by his wife three sons six daughters a sister twenty seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Mrs Eucinda Sammons aged 72 died Tuesday at Wadsworth Municipal Hospital after a lingering illness. A Kentucky native she recently lived with her daughter Mrs Verna Cyrus in Ohio. She leaves six daughters and four sons, thirty grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and five sisters. Services Held for Charles L Bechtel at First Church of God
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Charles L Bechtel 70 at the First Church of God. He was found dead at 148 Wright St. from an apparent heart attack. Born in Doylestown to Mr and Mrs Elmer Bezel he lived in Rittman 40 years and worked at Ohio Boxboard Co for 28 years retiring four years ago. Survived by sister-in-law Esther Keck of Toledo and numerous cousins. Wife Daisy preceded him about a year ago.

Skating Project Planned for Industrial Street Recreation Area
The city prepares a 125 by 60 foot ice pond at the Industrial Street recreation area with water pumping under cold conditions. City Engineer Larry Smith says the pond will be about one foot deep and may host a fire built from logs and wood from the city dump if ice forms well.

Rittman Indians roll to 89 58 win over Middlebranch
The Rittman Indians defeated Middlebranch 89 to 58 for their second win of the season on home court. John Miracle led with 21 points through three quarters before fouling out, Karl Benchoff added 28, and the team shot 44 percent from the field and 47 percent at the line. The win comes after a 67-55 loss to Loudonville and ahead of games against Orrville and Shreve.

Julius F. Bitter 81 died after illness. A Spanish American War veteran, he lived in Akron 65 years, born in Cincinnati. Retired machinist at Mechanical Mold and Machine Co. He belonged to Odd Fellows, Thomas Welker VFW post, and West Congregational Church. Survived by two daughters Ruth Bernhardt and Esther Russell, two sons Lawrence and Raymond, six grandchildren. Wayne County Red Cross picks S Squibbs for 1957 drive chair
S Squibbs former Morton Salt plant manager and Mil ton Township representative was named Wayne County Red Cross fund campaign chairman for 1957. The drive starts in March with a county goal of 28450 and town goals to be announced. Squibbs retired from Salt Co in 1956 after a career beginning as a chemist in 1920. He and his wife Harriet live at 100 W Liberty St. Their daughter Mary is a Pan American Airways hostess. The Red Cross supports disaster services armed forces veterans blood nursing first aid and youth programs among others. Son of former Rittman resident among Tokyo crash survivors
Eugene Wright son of Bernard Wright of Chicago survived a US Air Force weather reconnaissance plane crash 15 miles north of Yokota Air Base on December 27. He was badly burned but expected to recover and leave hospital in about three weeks. Wright, born and raised in Rittman, is nephew of Dora Wright and the Mills, Rob ert, Carroll and Rollin Wright families. The aircraft belonged to the 56th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron based at Yokota Air Base, northwest of Tokyo.
