Five site bids for a new post office were opened in Rittman with William H. Fixler the lowest at 3500 for two Liberty Street and North Main Street lots. Other offers ranged to 16000 for seven lots on West Ohio Avenue with leases noted. Washington will make the final decision after the City Planning Commission and Chamber Site Committee reviewed the bids.

Mel Kernan congratuled the printing and cutting departments of The Ohio Boxboard Co for surpassing previous records on Regular Rinso and Kimberly-Clark Kleenex cartons. Clyde Adams Russell Horner and Harold Simpson produced 70 500 impressions on the five color Cottrell Press Dec 21 equal to 846 000 Rinso car tons in 24 hours. This beats the January 8 1949 record of 70 100 impressions. Lew Wilguys Harold Bejler and Jim Lambert in the same period produced 45 berry Clark Kleenex car tons in three shifts. Rais is 5 400 more sheets than normal on one cutter. Kernan called for more such records in 1950 to boost production and job security.
