Decoration winners for the Christmas season were judged by H C Longworth Miss Hattie Sitler and Mayor Melvin Rit ter. The top entries included Clarence Kunkier 147 Grandview Sem Ruble and Louis Finis 302 Industrial. Firemen Banquet Draws Large Wayne County Turnout
Thirteen from the Rittman fire unit joined Wayne County volunteers as the Massillon group hosted the Wayne County Firemen Association banquet at Smithville Inn. About 295 attendees from Wayne County enjoyed a chicken dinner, with entertainment by Hap Goudy and the Melody-loners of Massillon. The association meets in January in Creston to elect officers. Tickets for the Jackson Day Banquet on Jan 9, 1950, at Smithville Inn cost 2.50 and may be bought from listed locals. Franklin D Roosevelt is billed as principal speaker.
