Navy trainee Melvin Stoolmiller ranks third in 500
Seaman Second class Melvin Stoolmiller was graduated last Thursday from the Hospital School of the Navy at Great Lakes Illinois, ranking third among 500 men. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Stoolmiller of S Main street and formerly drum major of the Rittman High School band. He attended Otterbein College before his service and was the youngest of the top students at Great Lakes. His father attended the exercises and saw him depart for San Diego California where the top ten were sent for duty at the Navy hospital there.
