The column then lists a rapid-fire roster of local birthdays and celebrations, births, recoveries, and family news including hospital stays and a death in the community.
The Wadsworth Rittman Area Hospital Association schedules its annual meeting for Thursday April 21 with officer elections and two trustee seats. The nominating committee is led by Glenn Parman and Wilford Blatter of Rittman and Dan Coughlin Paul Ginnings and J D Henson of Wadsworth. Lindsey Williams will retire as trustee and be replaced. A brochure on the new hospital floor plans is being prepared to inform residents and invite memorial donations, with Wearstler heading memorial and outside-district outreach committees. Letters have been sent and a form runs in this week's paper for Rittman residents to join.
A singing event will be held at Ritt man Tabernacle 64 South Main Sunday from 1 30 to 4 30 led by Pastor Lee Hance Revelators Quartet and local talent will perform with a public invitation. Dinner is served 12 noon to 1 30 in the church banquet room.
The Evangelical United Brethren Church hosts World Day of Prayer on Friday Feb 25 at 7 30 pm with Rev C P Tozer Sterling EUB Church speaking and special music by the Rittman EUB choir. Several pastors lead prayers and benediction. Event organized by United Church Women with sponsors from Milton Rittman and Sterling churches.
Ohio State University's Symphonie Choir directed by Louis H. Diercks unveils an eight‑appearance spring tour. Ben Bodager will handle tickets for events at Temple Israel Columbus February 4 Wooster Memorial Chapel March 2 opening in Ashtabula with performances at Columbus Junior High School March 20 and a junior senior high assembly March 21.
Darrel Porr and Christine Geiser earned dean's list distinction at Heidel berg College in Tiffin for the first semester. Porr is from Doylestown RD 1, Geiser from Marshallville RD 1, both listed with notable superior grades.
Six Junior Achievement advisors in Rittman will be honored at a 5 30 dinner at the Packaging Corporation of America plant cafeteria. PCA employees David Fishback William Thacker Ernie Polack Larry McElroy Morton Salt James Howe and Don Houglan of B W Oil will receive service awards.
Don Stepfield spoke while 17 members attended the Friendly Mothers Club meeting at Club Mrs. Duane Acker. Mrs Dale Widmer led the business session and presided as host. Donald Stepfield gave talks on Poisons in the Home and History of the Telephone.
Tickets for a Wayne County Republicans Frank T. Bow appreciation night dinner are available through The Rittman Press. The Lincoln Day event on March 12 at 6 30 p m will feature Congressman John M. Ashbrook at Triway High School.
Girl Scouts in Rittman observe Thinking Day with activities at Seville Nursing Home and an Idaho Idaho International Roundup talk. Brownie Troop 952 and Junior Troops host programs while planning a Salt Box Neighborhood meeting on February 28 at 8 p.m. at Rittman Savings Bank social rooms.
Fresh fish fried all you can eat for 1.50 at the American Legion Hall Tuesday March 22 from to 8 pm. School children under 12 pay 75 cents for tickets. Bread butter and coffee served.
Packaging Corporation of America announced a four million dollar molded pulp plant in Macon Georgia. The 200000 square foot facility aims to open in 1967 to supply bulk and retail egg packaging materials. PCA already runs molded pulp plants in Griffith Indiana Berkeley California and North Kansas City Missouri. Macon sits at the heart of the region’s growing egg industry and PCA is part of Tennessee Gas Transmission Company with additional mills and container plants nationwide.
Noting registration deadlines for the May 8 primary. Voters may register at the Rittman city building or Warne County courthouse basement 3 to 9 p.m. Mon through Fri and noon Saturday. If you moved or changed your name you must file a change of address. Absentee ballots available for armed forces. declaration of party affiliation not required.
Women of the Moose schedule a venuson dinner at the Moose Lodge Hall from 6 8 p m to raise funds. Tickets are available through any Moose member. A Moosehaven hospital night program is set for Wednesday March 2 at 7 p m with a guest speaker and refreshments. Mrs Perrin and Mrs Smythe enrolled in the defending circle at a recent meeting as fifteen members attended.
At a Columbus hearing Hill-Burton officials expected to approve about 1 million dollars to fund a new Wadsworth Rittman Hospital. Plans include blueprints, federal funds, and contractor bidding to begin by fall with route and traffic access improvements under study.
A record crowd of 250 attended a Lions Club zone social Saturday evening at Rittman High School. Guests came from Creston, Doylestown, Marshallville, Smithville and Orrville. Zone chairman Richard Lemmer organized the program featuring Wade and Jessie Kirkwood a husband and wife comedy team. No Lions meeting was held Monday. Glen Berkey and Sherman Daley plan the February 28 program.
