Reva Clark and Robert Forrer were married Monday at Easton. Mrs Forrer is the youngest daughter of Mrs Etta Clark. Mr Forrer is the son of Mr and Mrs George Forrer of Enaston. The couple both hold local jobs in Rittman and at the Ohio Salt company.
The D. of A. Lodge announces a regular meeting Thursday evening February 13 with a Valentine social to follow. A card party will be held Thursday evening February 20 and the public is invited.
The Rexall drugstore, under Thomas Rexall, has relocated to the Branigan block in Rittman occupying a former John Ward clothing store site. The move aims to build on an established reputation as a reliable druggist with the space previously bid on by other merchants.
Waldine Groge and Oscar Warmuth receive the American Legion Award at the San Fernando high school graduation. Among four nominees selected by AS students are Marjorie Revard Waitine Gregg Oscar Warmuth and Jack Miller with Miller and Marjorie Record earning honorable mention.
Rumor reports Charles Hanna has signed a confession naming Earl Donald of Cleveland Ave as the killer of 5 year old Melvin Horst who disappeared December 27 1928. Authorities say the boy was lured to the Donald home and choked in a garage before burial details remain undisclosed.
The WoH As notes a district rally set for May 6 in Rittman with delegates from Wooster Shreve Orrville Seville Sterling and Wadsworth. District Deputy Addie Brown and Mrs Ruby Verran attended alongside Ini Chamberlin. A covered dish supper followed, committees were named, and the next junior meeting is Feb 22 at 2 PM.
A pretty luncheon bridge hosted by Mesdames John Gannon Fred Wells Ed Brophy and C M Forman at the Weatfield Inn LeRoy featured red roses red tapers and a salad and dessert course. Awards included opalescent hand painted China prizes with Mrs Harry Weiss high score Mrs F B Snyder second high Mrs Charles Newman third and Mrs Emerson Davis consoN? conagled. Drivers received courtesy gifts.
Mrs Otto Boyer also named Mable Sailth Boyer, previously very ill in a Columbus hospital, shows improvement after a second operation last Friday. She has withstood a slender threat to life, now takes nourishment and suffers less pain.
Miss Esther Spade entertained Wednesday evening with eight guests. A chop suey dinner was served at o'clock. The group spent the night in games.
Pauline Tall from the Conan Aty Chautauqua Bureau spent about two weeks in Rittman seeking town approval for a future Chautauqua. Facing long-standing prejudice, she worked to build support after last year's event failed. She then left for Ashland, planning to return within a week or two to finalize plans for a July date.
On Monday evening a surprise party was given for Pete Pettoff at his home for his fortieth birthday. Guests included Mr and Mrs Scharlo Miss Mary Choko Mr and Mrs Lea Zinovich of ARron O Miss Rose Gavinsky and Mr Christ Johs of Masaitlon Mia M Davis and Mr H Fulton. The gathering featured games and music followed by a late birthday supper prepared by his wife and son Billy.
The Catholic society hosted a card party last Friday in W A hall with fourteen tables of pitcher and three of bridge. Prizes for pitcher went to Lucille Goffinet first ladies prize, Mrs. Vincent Marble Ferend, Joe McElwee first gentlemen, Father Culmet second. Bridge prizes were won by Mrs. H Weiss first and Mrs. C I Rohrer second. Valentine decorations and a delicious lunch completed the event.
The Pythian Sisters held a post meeting program on Wednesday evening. Birthday committee members included Mrs Thelma Steiner Della Campbell and Lida Silchuk. Winners in several contests were Mrs Ritter and Mrs Newman. Games and refreshments followed with date pudding whipped cream and coffee served.
Monday evening the Rittman district Troop 406 presented a well received scout show at briigh rehoat hall. the program featured living pictures of scout activities, marches, dances and camp scenes with several boys performing. local men morre sherwood sparrowhawke ramay and akron scout executive ramay spoke around the campfire. the troop extends thanks to missy maxilla kime hazel gardner and mrs charles noling for their help and music.
Mrs George Forrer of Easton, long ill, suffered another stroke Wednesday evening. She has been bed bound for months and her life is in danger. She is mother to Mrs Johnardiner and to Pearl Faber Homer Roy and Robert Forrer, all of whom live in Milkman.
The Gold Star Feed Store on South Main Street in Rittman shut its doors last Monday after a brief business career. It specialized in Gold Star brand feeds from Wooster Feed Manufacturing of Wooster, Ohio. Some carload lots of apples were purchased and distributed locally.
Akron heavyweight Kitts defeats notable contender Roske in a dramatic six-round bout. Roske, undefeated before this loss, is knocked down multiple times with Kitts delivering decisive blows before the referee stops the match. Over 600 local fans witnessed the event at Ritman Gym with managers Wilson, Rittman, and Tiny Herman praising Kitts' potential. The fight featured a vivid round-by-round account prepared for The Press.
