Frank Kitts of Rittman meets Joe Roske of Akron next Tuesday February 11 in a heavyweight bout touted as a career highlight. The Ohio Mater Company arena at Wadsworth hosts a seven fight card with Kitts trained by Myers Christner and Tiny Herman under manager O H Wilson. Tickets sold out in Rittman and the main event starts at 8 15 o clock with the show opening earlier.
On February 4 a declamation contest at Rittman High School prelims for the countywide finals. Winners were Margaret Flood of Daviestown first with Ole Mistix Junior, Palmer of Congress second with The Black Night. Sars Hoisington of Creston third with The Perfect Tribute. Judges were Mr and Mrs Banmer and Mr Keeler of Wadeworth.
The Olla Podrida Club met at Mrs George Secrest’s home on a Tuesday afternoon. A lengthy business session preceded the program during which officers for the ensuing year were elected Mos VA Garver as President and Mrs A C Moine VP Secretary Mrs J B Hickin. The program featured current events and a book review of Roper's Row by Warwick Deeping with music by Mrs A C Moine. Refreshments were served.
At 12:20 Tuesday the Rittman Fire Department answered a call to the George Winship residence on North Main Street to extinguish a small basement fire caused by an accidental ignition. Fire crews used chemicals to suppress flames in a tub of highly inflammable oil.
Veteran physician Dr Todd of Wooster marked his 93rd birthday this week. He has practiced medicine for 65 years, serving the community with a long career in healthcare.

They plan an exposition on February 10 featuring silent pictures of Scout Laws, Indian dancing, games, and a segment on the England jamboree with an Indian dance. Admission is set at ten cents. A church service for Scouts is scheduled for February 9 at 10:30 AM at the Presbyterian church, with a reserved pew on the north side. A small fire at a Salist restaurant was extinguished by the Rittman Fire Department around seven o clock Wednesday evening.
The Rittman Village Council debated changing the hall location after a $500 monthly rent increase by owner Carmichael of Barberton. An appointed committee met him. compromise hinged on repairs and repainting. A possible move to the old post office building was approved in principle, while a pool room closing-time ordinance set fines up to 50 000 for repeated violations.
A 1930 letter from Harry M Hanna mayor of Rittman Ohio expresses gratitude to Mayor Hanes and the village for comforting words and sympathy shown to grieving parents and the community. The note thanks the mayor and citizens for kindness during a time of sorrow.
Louis Obidich reports theft at his meat house on Monday evening. About 25 pounds of sausage and 50 pounds of bacon were stolen. Marshal Ed Milla notified. no suspects yet.
Ohio prepares a U S fish refuge near Mt Gilead featuring a primary lake and a 17 acre rearing pond for bass stocking. J W Thompson outlined government plans for multiple rearing ponds across Ohio to ensure bass supply while Wooster’s Joe Fisher promotes Wooster participation in conservation efforts. A federal game refuge may follow with deer and wild turkey purchases, conservation day set for March 8.
A. H. Thomas, Rexall manager, began moving drug store equipment to a Branigan Block space previously used by John Ward. By Saturday the Rexall shop will reopen at the new location with a large soda fountain installed. The Goffinet Block vacancy remains unfilled.
