The county cancer drive plans house to house canvassing in Rittman starting February 15 to raise about 1800 dollars. Co chairmen Os hottie and Mrs Ralphi Gyelthey lead a large team of captains and canvassers to explain seven cancer danger points and solicit contributions. Money stays in the county for patient aid and education with remaining funds supporting research.

Local Mrs America Contest Calls for Entries
Entries for the Mrs America contest are due by March 15 with the district cook-off to select a finalist for the state contest in Columbus. The winner advances to the finals in Fort Lauderdale Florida and the prize exceeds 15000 dollars. Doris Bauman 38 6 Main St won last year and went to Elyria district finals. Rittman will choose a local winner the week of March 18 in a three judge elimination. Finalists receive gifts and the homemaker crowned Mrs America earns over 15000 dollars in prizes.

Quiet 63rd Wedding Anniversary for Stillwagners
Mr and Mrs John Charles Stillwagner of Rittman plan a quiet observance of their 63rd wedding anniversary on February 16 at home 158 Wright Ave Pomeroy. Married in 1894 they spent early years there with him a coal miner for 50 years before moving to Rittman in 1927. Mrs Stillwagner retired in 1942 after five years at Ohio Boxboard Co. They have three daughters Mabel Moore Sterling Sibyl Rosenbalm Sharonville and Helen Ruble Cochocton and two sons Clarence Wooster and Herbert Creston, 19 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. One son John died over 30 years ago.

Rittman Indians saw a three game win streak end Friday night on their home court losing 64 60 to Loudonville. Sonney Schaub and Kurt Benchoff led Rittman with several field goals while Terry Whims added four charity shots as the Indians battled a late Loudonville rally. Loudonville pulled ahead late with Bash scoring four points in the final minute to seal the 64 60 setback.
