Local Girls Selected for Girl's State Delegation
Lois Fry Betsy West and other junior girls from the Rittman area were named delegates to Girl's State by the American Legion Auxiliary and the Rittman Lions Club. The selections honor scholastic achievement leadership and school activity participation. Fry daughter of Harry and lives in East Ohio was active in bands clubs and student government and West daughter of Mr and Mrs West of 29 N Fifth St participates in Future Teachers Association and church youth groups.

Indians win two as they down Orrville and Dalton
Rittman Indians won back to back games over Orrville 81 51 and Dalton 81 56 to raise their season record to seven wins. John Miracle and Karl from the field and Sonny from the line led a balanced attack in the Orrville game while Schaub and Miracle each scored 16 in the Dalton win as nine players hit scorers. Carey coach Hall's squad hosts Wadsworth Friday.

Sleet and High Winds Cause Widespread Power Failures
Sleet and high winds caused a power outage in the Rittman area Thursday morning. The first 6:30 a.m. outage lasted three minutes, then a second line failed at 8:05 a.m. for one hour thirty-five minutes, covering Sterling and Creston as 24,000 volt lines fell near Creston. The Wooster and Barberton feed lines were down, affecting towns from Mansfield to Massillon.

REA hears talk on Russian schools in Rittman
The Rittman Education Association heard a presentation by Russell W. Frey comparing local schools with those in Russia. Slides of schools churches and other scenes from Europe were shown during the Thursday session. Plans were made for the spring dinner at Morena's Route 18 with Mrs. Joseph Kocher Akron School of Music scheduled to speak on April 4.

Renda Dean Napier four month old daughter of Mr and Mrs Rich ard Napier Sterling died Monday after a two day illness at Lodi Hospital. Survived by twin sister Brenda and sisters Bonnie Jean and Christine Lynn. Four injured in head on collision near Sterling
Four people were injured in a Sunday morning head on collision on Sterling Road. The Shooks of Rittman now in Burbank and their daughter Betty were in a 1946 Chevrolet. Carl Collett of Burbank was treated and released from Wadsworth General Hospital. Mr and Mrs Shook remained in hospital with multiple injuries.

Kathy Boylan, a Rittman Press high school correspondent, experienced an appendicitis attack Wednesday morning and was rushed to Wadsworth hospital. She is expected to return home Sunday with her appendix removed.
