Rupp Arrested in Warren Theft and Check Conversion Case
Tony Rupp, an electrician from Rittman with a wife and five children, was arrested by Warren officers and Deputy Marshal Schorger on charges he converted a $160 check for his own use and stole an overcoat. Police allege the car he drove was stolen and involved in another theft. the vehicle’s number may have been altered and the car was in a Doylestown repair shop after a collision.

Death of David Blatter in Malcom township
David Blatter of Malcom township died at his home northwest of Rittman on Tuesday afternoon from pneumonia at age 62 years six months two days. Funeral Thursday at his home conducted by Benjamin Maibach Sr. Burial at the cemetery south of Rittman. He is survived by his wife, four sons, three daughters, three brothers, three sisters and ten grandchildren. one daughter Minnie died in 1884. The children living near Rittman are James, Joseph, Andrew, Fred Blatter, Emma Blatter, Della Batman and Edna Walters. Brothers William of Rittman, John of Mansfield, James of Blatter, Ohio.

Factories Slow Down at Bittman Industries
The Ohio Salt Co. and Ohio Boxboard Co. reduce hours to four or five days a week as wartime production winds down. The Ohio Salt Co. will close Thursday evenings and the Monday morning start for the plant. The Boxboard mill runs four days and the box department five days a week until further notice. The slowdown reflects national postwar adjustments and is expected to be temporary.
