Ida Powell 83 of Rt 1 died Thursday at Wadsworth Rittman Hospital after a long illness. Born Sept 22 1888 in Sardis Monroe Co to Simon and Mae Blaser Mathys she lived in Rittman since 1916 except 14 years in Bradenton Florida. She belonged to the Apostolic Christian Church. Husband Walter died in 1966. Surviving sisters Lavenna Miller Wadsworth and Luella Miller St Clairsville. Services were held Saturday at the Apostolic Christian Church with burial in Apostolic Cemetery. Gillman Funeral Home arranged.

Ohio Edison files for wholesale rate hike to 21 municipalities
Ohio Edison today filed with the Federal Power Commission for new wholesale rates across 21 municipal customers including Beach City Brewster Lodi Seville and Wadsworth. The proposal seeks about an 18.5 percent basic rate increase, reflecting fuel cost changes and aiming to raise annual revenue by roughly 1.141 million based on 1970 test year with an effective start date of April 1 1972.

The Wadsworth Rittman Hospital Auxiliary voted to donate 13000 in equipment for hospital use. They funded a Manulograph machine valued between 10000 and 12000 for breast cancer diagnosis, an electro cardiogram unit, a Bennett Machine for lung cases, a reader printer, chairs for solariums, a floor polisher, a sweeper, and a television set for OB. The group raises funds through the hospital lobby snack bar and gift shop, annual bazaar, dances, and Easter sale activities.

Storm Sewers To Replace Ditches In Rittman
Robert Trimble city manager announced a new Landis Creek bridge and North Main Street repaving in Rittman. The $40 000 bridge will widen the street and sidewalks and raise approaches to remove a hump. 1 800 feet of street will be repaved with $100 000 allocated. Storm sewers will replace deep ditches on both sides. Engineering studies set for early next year with paving to finish in 1973, funded by Issue 1.

Juveniles Arrested Over Vandalism At West Hill School
Three youths aged 14 and 15 were arrested last week in connection with vandalism at West Hill School. A room was damaged after a window was removed, and items including a fish aquarium were ruined. They will appear in juvenile court before Judge Kindsvatter.
