In Wooster Clarence Gear and Sharon Knight of Akron waived preliminary hearing on felony charges tied to a break in at Family Drug Store in Rittman with drugs valued at 476 56 Gear bond set at 1000 Knight faces a second charge of carrying a concealed weapon both bound over to grand jury.
Vernon R. Tomblin aged 28 of 51 North Main Street Rittman died after an automobile crash Friday night He was a passenger in a northbound car driven by Donald Snook Jr on County Road 233 at Wadsworth Rittman Hospital where he died on arrival
The P T A of Rittman Schools sets April 22 for its annual auction, the main fundraiser for the senior scholarship awarded since 1955. Applications require student activities, academics, and two faculty references, reviewed by a committee led by the principal, PTA president, secretary, and others. Previous winners include Francine Thompson and Doris Bauman, among many others. Contact Harold Widmer, Mrs. Marvin Stephens, or Mrs. Guy Holland to donate. The report also covers a traffic accident involving Snook and injuries leading to hospital care.
The Rittman Grand Squares host a dance February 19 at 8 p.m. in Rittman Middle School with caller Bill Jordan. Western square dancers are invited. A square dance workshop is held first and third Thursdays and a round dance workshop on the second and fourth Thursdays at 8 p.m. at Rittman City Hall conducted by Don and Dorothy Rand.
City officials, including Imhoff and City Manager Trimble, warn that water and sewer rates may rise as funds for capital improvements are needed. Trimble cites low water supply and aging lines, while residents on Grandview oppose paving due to high assessments. Snow removal and street chuck holes draw complaints as crews defend their efficiency. A patrolman eligibility dispute involves Anthony Firis, with the age requirement of 21 noted.
Marion F Graven head of Wayne County Republican Party was found dead in his Wooster home Friday. He had planned to attend Ashland Lincoln Day event. held this post longer than any Ohio figure. Oscar C Wertz 79 of 317 Diane St died Tuesday night at Wadsworth Health Care Center after a short illness. Born May 20 129 in Marshallville to Winfield and Ida Wertz, he was a lifelong resident, farmer and former Ohio Boxboard Co employee. Survived by wife Marie five sons two daughters two brothers and one sister. Services held Friday at St Michael's Lutheran Church Marshallville with Rev John R Long officiating burial in church cemetery.
