First Baptist Church offers a 9 to midnight New Year’s Eve service with a musical program by Young People, followed by refreshments, fellowship, and a candlelight communion to close.
Paulo Zanotto 26 from San Paulo Brazil arrives Jan 25 for three weeks in Rittman visiting schools and staying with two households. Sponsored by the International Teacher Development program he will observe classes attend PTA and board meetings and explore audio visual education English as a foreign language and American culture. He plans six months in the U S for study and observation and may teach speak to assemblies and civic groups.
Local police in Rittman investigate multiple burglaries as colored light bulbs disappear from outdoor holiday displays. Residents report the thefts during the past week while authorities monitor decorated homes for the season.

The Wayne County Joint Vocational School board aims to save about 100000 by deferring a nearly 2 million construction bond sale for a lower rate. It seeks three new professionals for pupil personnel, trade and industry, and adult programs with salaries 9000 to 12000. Director Zimpfer to accept applications and a January 5 reorganizational meeting planned for 1967.
The fifth annual Twelfth Night tree burning will be held January 5 at 7 p.m. near the swimming pool at Industrial Street recreation area. Sponsored by the Rittman Chamber of Commerce with cooperation from the Rittman Municipal Association and city departments, the event asks residents to place trees on the front lawn for pickup January 3 to 5.
Carl G Milford 70 of 70 South Second passed Tuesday at Wadsworth Rittman Hospital. He lived in Rittman 35 years after moving from Barberton and served as superintendent of the waiter department. He was a World War I veteran, a member of American Legion Howard Bair Post 423, and worked 15 years at General Tire in Akron before retiring. Survivors include his wife Hazel, four sons Wade William Neil and the Rev James Gertz and Joan Stin. two daughters. eight grandchildren. and five brothers. Burial followed at Rittman Cemetery with Rev James E Watt officiating. Gillman Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Maria Cuny Casares will present the program when Junior Mothers Club members meet Wednesday January 4 at Rittman Savings Bank social rooms. Hostesses include Mrs Cahit Chorba Mrs Richard Britton Mrs Harold Salyer and Mrs Robert Adams. Meeting starts at 8 30.

The Rittman Public Library posts new hours under Librarian Mary Jane Frey. Beginning Monday January 2 the library will be open 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with Saturday hours 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library opens Monday January 2 from 3 to 8:30 p.m.
Wayne County mobile chest X ray unit will be stationed at Packaging Corporation of America Thursday Dec 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The public is invited to use X ray facilities. Charges are 1 for those under 65. All persons over 65 will be X rayed free of charge.
Rittman city council gathers for a session tonight at 7 39 p m. A previous meeting was postponed due to the Christmas holiday weekend.
List of recent fines and sentences from Nittman mayor's court. Defendants from Rittman, Wooster, Orrville and surrounding areas faced penalties for intoxication, unsafe vehicles, speeding, disorderly conduct, open flask, resisting arrest, assaulting officer, improper backing, and other traffic or public order offenses. Several cases included jail days or license suspensions.
Dennis Keith Erdos 22, a specialist 4th class died of grenade wounds in Vietnam on Dec 17. He was buried Saturday at Jackson United Presbyterian Church cemetery. Erdos, son of Mr and Mrs Alex Erdos of Wooster, belonged to Co A First Bn 12th Cavalry and the 1st Cavalry Division Air Mobile. A para trooper who enlisted in 1965, he trained at Fort Gordon and Fort Benning. He volunteered for Vietnam service and was sent May 15. Erdos was born in Creston, a Norwayne High School graduate, and active in football basketball and baseball. He attended Ohio University for three years before enlistment. He is survived by his mother a Creston elementary teacher, two brothers William and Michael, and a sister Diane. Two other area men were killed in September: Douglas Rauschenberg and John Klump.
Ronald Eugene Couch four died Friday at Akron Children s Hospital after an illness with leukemia since April. He lived in Marshallville RD and is survived by his parents Yelmar and, seven sisters and a brother, grandparents Stanley Couch Marshallville and Albert Wheat Danville Ky. Burial was at Chestnut Hill Cemetery Doylestown with Rev George Pryor officiating.
