Oberlin Baroque Trio to Perform at Rittman High School

A Baroque trio from Oberlin College will present the second Fine Arts Foundation concert at Rittman High School on Monday January 16. The program includes Bach Telemann and Quantz trio sonatas and solo works by Bach Handel and Scarlatti. Players Linda Krebs and John Morris join the ensemble with details of their Oberlin studies and hometowns.

Tree Burning Set for Thursday in Rittman

The fifth annual Christmas tree burning is planned for Thursday at 6:37 p.m. at Industrial Street recreation grounds with Rev. Bernard Raper of First Church of God to speak. The event is a cooperative effort by the Rittman Ministerial Association, Chamber of Commerce, city fire and street departments, and the high school music department.

Dies for Lewis Stackhouse Yon Jr. at 40 in Kent

Services were held Tuesday for Lewis Jack Stackhouse Jr. 40 of Kent son of Lewis D and Iona Killough Stackhouse of Rittman. Stackhouse fell while working as a project foreman of Akron Holiday Inn, employed by Donley and Sons Construction at Cleveland. Burial was in Wooster.

Father of Doylestown woman dies at home

The father of Mrs. Earl Leguillon of Doylestown and former Rittman Press employee died Friday at the Massillon home of his daughter Mrs. Clifford Smith. Services were Tuesday. He is survived by four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Richard G. Pirman of 215 W Good Ave Wadsworth marked twenty years of service with The Babcock and Wilcox Company. He joined in 1946 after Army service and progressed from trainee to drafting group leader in the nuclear and special products department.

No Charges In Whittaker Shooting

In Stark County two men were involved in a shooting at the McCormick home near Cana. Benny McCormick died at Massillon City Hospital four days later. Frank Whittaker of Rittman is in satisfactory condition at Barberton Hospital and due for surgery. Investigators say no charges have been filed and the case remains under review.

Morton Salt retiree Char les Rosenberg dies at 80

Services were held Saturday for Charles Rosenberg of 24 North Seneca at Sillman Funeral Home. He died Thursday at home after a long illness. Retired from Morton Salt in 1953 after 22 years. Survived by wife Clara seven sons Julius Robert Martin Andrew John Charles Dan and a daughter Helen Beichler. a sister in Europe and 20 grandchildren. Burial in Rittman Cemetery. Rev.
