A group of five Wadsworth youths aged 14 to 17 were arrested after admitting break ins in Wayne Medina and Summit Counties. They confessed to entering two Rittman homes and two RD Rittman residences and stealing eight dollars from Alvin Nieman and eleven dollars plus watch and cuff links from Frank Kitts. Several country homes owned by Ledale Amstutz and Floyd Hoover were also broken into. The youths were apprehended in Wadsworth while entering another residence last Saturday.
A 14 year old girl from Rittman appeared before Juvenile Judge Myron F Brenneman on a case related to intoxication. Police said the girl had been picked up around 4 40 p.m. on a Wednesday near Mednesday Fest area. She told officers she had obtained intoxicants from some men.
Richard Bryan, clerk of the Chippewa Local Board of Education, resigns after 12 years citing Goodyear duties. His term ends March 31 after losing re election in November. Hazel Harvey notes the move as difficult for the board. Nancy Moses also resigns as fifth grade teacher for health reasons. The board approves 3200 for highway project buses, 550 for band instruments, and 4000 set aside for backtop work at Daviestown history site. Yorkestown High’s new addition is slated for January 10.
Mrs Tree Goodwin 84 of Wadsworth mother of Elinor Javeh died Thursday at Wadsworth Hospital. Widow of Rev Clare Goodwin longtime Methodist pastor in Moreland Wayne County. Born in Lorain County she moved to this city seven years ago. Survived by three daughters Greta Lowe of Dowlesboro New Gerevieve Tre of Wad yO Sor Mes Stauch Awe grande bileren Seok. Burial was in Moreland with Rev Glenn Luck officiating.
Rittman merchants report tickets claimed for cash gifts while a mystery prize remains. Ticket H95 was not claimed, and ticket 9917 may redeem the prize at the Franklin Store before next Wednesday. If unclaimed, another ticket will be drawn. Several $10 gifts have been claimed by local residents, with two $50 and other small awards noted.
