William Swartz 38 Dies After Heart Attack at Home
William Foster Swartz 38 died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at 87 N Fifth Street after a heart attack. Born in Rittman he lived nearby his whole life. He attended Bowling Green University and worked in jewelry. Survived by wife Betty, daughter Ester, son Sam Lee, mother Hattie Swartz, sister Margret Dean, and two half brothers George Swartz and Howard Swartz. Services Friday at Ev United Brethren Church with Masonic and Eastern Star rites. Burial in an Cemetery. Friends may call Gillian Funeral Home Thursday. Masonic Lodge to hold services at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Doman Heads Missionary Group At Milton Church
Mrs Robert Doman installed as president of the Hermina Lendy Missionary Society at Milton Presbyterian Church during a Wednesday evening meeting held at Mrs Frank Hisem home. Wayne Bennett led the candlelight service with officers lighting candles. Ed Lavery, Richard Swigart, Mrs Raymond Lance, and Irvin Luikart filled staff roles. Swigart directed the program with Mrs R D Wenger reading Letter to the Mother of Jesus. Christmas carols were led by Paul Mills. Harvetta Shook reviewed Ephesians and year end Bible study. Hostess Mrs Keith Rufener and Mrs Doman served twenty members and six guests after the program.

Rittman City Council met in the last official session of the year last Thursday night. The meeting had been moved up from Dec 24 so city employees could be paid before Christmas.

Amy Davis Wins Fourth Place In Photo Contest
Amy Davis three year old daughter of Mr and Mrs William Davis Jr of 193 North St has won fourth place in the 22nd annual childrens national photograph contest. The contest is under the auspices of the National Association of Department Store Photograph Studios in over 200 cities in the United States. The M O Neil Co in Akron sent in Amy s picture. The American Legion New Years Eve party will be held starting at 9 p m with live music. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Rittman library will be closed Monday Dec 31 and Tuesday Jan 1 with hours resuming at 3 p m Wednesday Jan 2.

Indians Fall to Norwayne 62 55 In Final Quarter

The Board of Education voted to place a May primary bond issue of 160000 on the ballot to equip the high school addition and build a new West Hill school. They raised from 106000 after architec t review, with costs broken down for science, home economics, gym, music, industrial arts and West Hill equipment totaling 147 900.
