Rittman schools cut closures over Christmas break plan
The Rittman Board of Education voted to close all district buildings except the high school and central offices during Christmas vacation due to severe cold. Superintendent Larry Stucky said monitoring will limit monthly gas use to 3,303,020 cubic feet, with savings expected to offset a deficit.

Columbia Gas Diverts Fuel To Residential Use
Columbia Gas of Ohio will shift gas away from industrial users beginning next month to ensure home heating supply after unseasonably cold weeks. Temperatures were about 60 percent colder in October and 70 percent colder in November. Industrial curtailments will rise in January from 65 to 100 percent for loads that can use an alternate fuel and from 10 to 25 percent for those that cannot. large boiler loads remain 100 percent curtailed. Commercial curtailment stays at 40 percent for large users. The company urged conservation by residential and small commercial customers not subject to curtailment.
